1 TO 1 CHROMEBOOKS: Parents registering their students for the 2024-25 school year have the option to select the Class 1:1 Device Insurance Option. This option covers your student’s Chromebook device. All student fees, including the device insurance fee, will be sent to our Pay N’ Go system for payment.

Please note, this only applies to students in 3rd – 5th grades. For further information, please visit our Pay N’ Go website or for more detailed documentation, please view this Pay N’ Go Student Fee article.

If you would like to change your device insurance selection from NO to YES, please email: changemyrequest@katyisd.org with your student’s Katy ID, name and campus and we will update your insurance option from NO to YES.

Please note, you are only eligible to make this change and pay in full, 30-days after your student’s first day of attendance. The 30th day of attendance is September 13th.

*It is important to note that you must make the selection to purchase insurance AND you must pay the fee by September 13th in order for the insurance to go into effect. We have approximately 200 parents that elected to purchase insurance, but have still not paid for it. We wanted to give everyone a reminder.

Please do not drop off or pick up students on Cinco Ranch Boulevard at any time.

All car riders should utilize our west-side driveway by the gyms/ tennis courts ONLY for drop off/pick up.

The safest way to drop off or pick up your child is utilizing our two lanes in our drop off/pick up line. We have crossing guards in the AM beginning at 8:30 AM to assist students getting into the building safely. We also have crossing guards in the PM starting at 4:05 PM. Please do not park or create a third line in the parking lot as we do not have staff on duty in those areas to ensure your child's safety.

We invite you to join Katy ISD and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for a webinar, “It’s Real: Teens and Mental Health on Wednesday, September 11th from 7:00-8:00PM. The presentation will cover what mental health is, noticing signs of someone needing help and tips for having a caring conversation with someone you might be worried about. We will provide a link as we get closer to the date. This presentation will be recorded and available on the Katy ISD website under Legacy Parent Academy following the live webinar.

In accordance with Texas Education Code 28.004 and Senate Bill 9, students enrolled in junior high physical education (PE) or Athletics will receive instruction Personal Health and Safety. Topics will include child abuse, family violence, dating violence and sex trafficking. Katy ISD junior high school counselors will teach the required health TEKS specific to abuse and violence prevention through guidance lessons.

The purpose of the curriculum is to provide students with information about how to deal with the challenges of early adolescence and to supplement the efforts of parents as they educate and support their teens. Under Texas statute, parents must choose to “opt-in” their child to participate in the lessons that address human growth and development, abuse, and violence prevention.

Beginning on September 2nd through September 30th, parents may elect to opt-in their child to participate in the lessons via an electronic link provided by the District.

Below is the opt-in window as well as the time frame when lessons will be taught:

Instructional Window: November 4th – December 20th

All lessons are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and meet the requirements that are mandated by the state. Parents have the right to review the curriculum materials which can be found in the Canvas course “Personal Health and Safety Guidance Lessons”

This content is intended to initiate conversations between you and your child about the physical, emotional, and social changes that occur during adolescence. In addition, awareness and education on abuse and violence are key to prevention and intervention. It is a priority for Katy ISD to partner with our families and community to create a safety net for our students.

Gifted and Talented Screening for 2025-2026 School Year

Secondary students may be screened for G/T classes, as long as they were not already screened this school year.

Parent checklists are available in the GT Tile in MyKaty Cloud.

If students are already in some G/T classes, and wish to be in more GT classes they may complete a Request for Additional Services also found in the GT Tile in MyKaty Cloud .

Forms have a firm deadline to be completed by 11:59 pm on Friday, October 4th. Paper checklists will not be accepted.
