Greetings Husky Families,
We have made it through our first progress reporting period, and should have received your scholar's progress report by now! If you have not, reach out to your child's teacher by email and request a copy. To be transparent, our district experienced some difficulties with our progress reports, however, those challenges should have been worked through and everyone should be up to date with the current status of your child's grades. Spring ISD adopted a new student information management system and it's been a challenge with data transfers and maneuvering through the new software! Thank you for our patience and your partnership as we work to ensure all our Huskies are successful.
As shared in this past month's Pastries with the Principal, your child should be able to come home and tell you and SHOW YOU what they have been focusing on in class(es). If this is a struggle for your child, reach out to your child's teacher and schedule your conference right away.
Communication
Parents, please keep communication open with your child's teacher(s). If there are any concerns or questions, please email them first and if there is not a response within 48 school hours, then follow up with a phone call. It's quicker to follow these steps. Teachers don't always get a chance to check their mailboxes, but they do check email more regularly. If your concerns are not resolved within a week, please contact an administrator and we will assist with opening the lines of communication and finding a resolution.
Additionally, if you require an Administrator, after working with your child's teacher, be sure an appointment is made, so that you do not have an extended waiting period or make a blank trip. Appointments can always be coordinated ahead of time to ensure availability.
Lunch visits and expectations
Parents please make sure you are reading the guidelines for visiting in the building. We have less staff this year and have to maintain order and safety, as well as build back our academic standing! We want to ensure that we are all working together to create a positive environment, focused on student safety and learning achievement. So, we are asking for you to please review the rules that you sign when visiting and prepare, accordingly. Every visitor will have to sign a policy to visit during lunch. If we find that any of the guidelines are breeched or disregarded, access will be denied and visits revoked.
As a reminder, due to capacity issues, we have had to implement a schedule, to manage the number of visitors and safe spacing in the cafeteria:
PK - Fridays
Kinder - Mondays
1st - Tuesdays
2nd - Wednesdays
3rd - Thursdays
4th - Mondays
5th - Fridays
Thank you all for your commitment in supporting your child's educational journey! Let's continue to soar and help our scholars reach new heights!
Hispanic Heritage Program & PK/K Curriculum Night Wednesday Oct. 9th at 5:30pm
In addition to identifying students, your child uses the ID badge for various purposes on a daily basis. He/She can scan for a breakfast or lunch tray, request books, log into devices and board school transportation. All scholars need the ID badge that has been assigned to them. BUS RIDERS must be responsible for bringing them back and forth daily.
Please help your child come up with a system that keeps the lanyard attached to them and have a standard place in your home, where it is held each evening and picked up before walking out the door each morning. Parents, we need your partnership in order for the system to work completely.
Lost badges can be replaced for a $5 fee.
Click the title above for more details and to see how you register to track your child using the Smart Tag System.

Old News... that you still NEED TO KNOW
Student Birthdays
At Heritage Elementary we celebrate student birthdays each day with an announcement and a special birthday treat!
We do not hold class birthday parties. For parents that would like to do something with classmates, we welcome a small treat for the entire class, following the protocols listed below:
- Only store bought cupcakes or cookies
- Parent may not come to the classroom for distribution
- Teacher’s determine what time of day to distribute (likely snack time, recess or end of day) for minimal disruption to instruction
- No class decorations or distractions from the learning environment (including, but not limited to, balloons, banners, etc.)
Morning Arrival
- School Hours - 8:05 - 3:25
- Students are tardy after 8:05 and must be signed in at the front desk by a parent. Students entering at this time, need to have already eaten breakfast. Class has started, scholars can not eat breakfast from home in the room at this time, & the Child Nutrition team has collected breakfast trays.
Other Helpful Info:
- Dress Code - Heritage Huskies wear standardized dress. Students must adhere to the dress code below on the attached flyer. In addition to color coding, pants and tops must be school appropriate, not showing excess skin or cropped style. Hoods and hats are not worn in the building, and we are a device free campus, meaning any cellular or wireless devices are to be off and kept away. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen electronics

Dismissal Process
Help us make our dismissal safe and efficient!
Know that the first weeks of school, we must be patient as the littles and even parents learn our processes.
Our car rider line forms in the front parking lot. If you are picking up your child in the car rider line, please make sure to arrive on time at 3:25pm. Place your Car Rider Number in the window. The car rider line can move quickly once students have memorized their number. Please assist them at home, reminding them and even writing it down where they will see it and recognize it, when the number is called.
Each day the process should have minutes shaved off, as we work to expedite the process to finish by 3:45pm.
Monday, 9/9, parents began coming inside to sign their child(ren) out in the front office for late pick-up. If this is an ongoing, patterned occurrence, parents will need to provide day care options for their child(ren).
Thank you for help in expediting this process.
