Thank you to everyone who already submitted the Head Room Parent form. We will be reaching out on Tuesday with the classroom assignments to all of those who submitted their names.

We are still looking for candidates from the following classrooms: Scherl, Ebervein, Robinson, Scott, Edmunds, Sandborn and Eilers. We need to have assigned Head Room Parents in each classroom before we can organize parent volunteers for our three classroom parties to be held later this school year.

The Head Room Parents will serve as a liaison between the teacher and the parents of their classrooms. They will communicate with classroom parents about upcoming parties and future school activities as they come up. The Head Room Parents will be responsible for leading a team of parents for each classroom party and ensuring they stay on track for the room parties. Head Room Parents also assist in finding parent volunteers to support our annual Teacher Appreciation Week.

If you have more than one student at Highlands, PLEASE SUBMIT A SEPARATE FORM for each student. If chosen, you will only be asked to serve as a Head Room Parent for one child's classroom.

There will be a separate sign-up to volunteer as a Room Parent to assist with individual classroom parties. More information to come.

School Portrait day will be held on August 28, 2024. Afterwards, you’ll be able to view your images, order packages and select your image for your yearbook (please remember to do so before it’s selected for you), all orders will be delivered to your home.

Calling all builders, programmers, and problem solvers: We are looking for 4th and 5th graders who are interested in Legos, robotics, programming, teamwork, and/or researching solutions to the world’s problems to represent Highlands in the District 203 First Lego League competition this November. The theme of the missions for 2024 is Submerged dives into the oceans: conservation, exploration, and ecology!

Students must attend an information session this Thursday, August 29th during their recess to learn how to apply for this opportunity. For more information, please click on the linked flyer. Contact Mr. Kresl, Mr. Kessler, or Ms. Malikowski for more information.

Young Rembrandts will offer drawing classes after school for students in K-5th starting on Tuesdays from 10/1-12/17.

Spanish & Mandarin Ladder Registration

¡Vamos a divertirnos! LET'S HAVE FUN, sing songs, and play games while learning Spanish or Mandarin. Jumpstart your student's language journey with Spanish Ladder! Our language programs offer children the foundation they will need as they continue developing their language skills in the years ahead. All classes will be held after school on Thursdays. Classes include Spanish for grades K-2nd and 3rd-5th as well as Mandarin for grades K-5.

Elementary Golf School is offering an exciting junior golf program at Highlands School, designed to expose golf to juniors of all ability levels. This program is created and taught by PGA Professionals, to include lesson plans that are fun, safe, and educational. Youngsters will be given the opportunity to experiment with playing a variety of different shots.

Our program teaches basic fundamentals, with plenty of variation for practicing and playing. We will not only teach the shots, but also the etiquette, behavior and finer points of the rules of the game. Our instructors will be able to adjust the level of complexity to each child’s individual level of progress.

Be a Charity Hero with TEAM NEF in the Naperville Half Marathon, 10K or 5K on Sunday, October 20. Join parents, students and teachers to walk, run and raise funds. Each TEAM NEF Charity Hero commits to raise at least $203 in support of students.

50% of what you raise supports our school and 50% supports NEF-funded programs. NEF is the non-profit arm of 203 that supports students in need, teachers with great ideas, and student opportunities throughout the district.
