The Howler June 19th, 2020
Newsletter for the Shadow Hills Elementary School Community
Principal Point
Summer/June 2020
I hope you are finding ways to enjoy your time away from school! Today is June 19, and I want to wish everyone a Happy Juneteenth/Freedom Day! If you don’t know what Juneteenth is check out this site: https://www.juneteenth.com/ Tomorrow is the first day of Summer too, and the weather is finally matching the time of year!
Most of you are curious to know what school will be like when it reopens in August. The Boise School District submitted a plan to the Boise School Board yesterday and it was approved. I have been working on a site specific plan for Shadow Hills, based on the Boise School District plan. I am going to be sharing the Site Plan with the Shadow Hills Leadership Team and the entire Shadow Hills Staff next week. The PTO Board is going to give input on the Site Plan next week as well. While I cannot share all of the details of the Site Plan in this edition of The Howler I do want everyone to know that school will look and feel different in August. On that note, in planning, I want to make sure that school is a safe place for everyone and that learning can take place. That will be a balancing act like none other ever experienced to date. In July, I hope to share the Shadow Hills Site Plan.
Please continue to check the Boise School District website (www.boiseschools.org) for updated information about the Reopening of school under the COVID-19 Response tab.
Take care!
Dr. Z.

IS YOUR STUDENT RETURNING TO SHADOW HILLS?
If you moved out of the Shadow Hills attendance area and you would like for your child to be considered for continuation at Shadow Hills, an Open Enrollment form needs to be completed. That form is on the District website. Kris Foss can assist with that process as well.
