Curtis Chronicles
September 13, 2021
Hello from Curtis Principal, Sonya Pitcock
Cougar families,
It’s been great seeing our first volleyball and football games the past week and we look forward to a great seasons for these groups! Students who attend games as fans must wear their ID badges, be in dress code and be picked up promptly after each event. We have a student section for both football and volleyball and love to see students cheering on their peers in a positive way.
Our student clubs are starting up this month too! We are in the process of updating our clubs on the website, but be sure to check the daily announcements for information about clubs that are starting to meet already, so your students can get connected! We have clubs such as chess, anime, creative writing, gametime, money and investments and many more! Most clubs meet after school and students can ride the afternoon bus at 4:30 to get home if needed.
Our first field trip of the year is coming up for our 8th graders on September 20-22. We will be taking all our students to the STEAM Center for some off campus learning and tours to see what high school holds for them in the areas of STEAM. Students will be going in small groups in the morning or afternoon sessions on one of the three days. Our 7th graders will visit STEAM October 4-6.
NJHS is sponsoring collecting items for ACO this week, September 13-17. Students can drop off supplies in room A113. Students can earn 1 service hour for a donation valued at $3 (earn a maximum of 5 hours). If students don’t have money to spend, they could do extra chores around the house, babysit or mow lawns to earn money to purchase items. Ms. Dimoulakis, NJHS sponsor will sign service forms for student who need service hours when items are dropped off.
We are collecting the following items:
-paper towels
-toilet paper
-shampoo
-toothbrushes
-toothpaste
