Specialist Spotlight - Art with Mrs. Cantrell
Mrs. Kramer’s fifth graders finished up a collage self-portrait in the style of Tim Burton. They are now working on a painting in which they are getting a small idea of what challenges Michelangelo Buonarroti faced when working on the Sistine Chapel. Mrs. Carlson’s, Mrs. Carey’s, and Mrs. Blair’s classes finished building their clay creations and will be painting them in January. Mrs. Carlson’s class has just begun working on ideas for their ceiling tiles. Mrs. Blair’s class are working on a Pop Art painting using complementary colors. Mrs. Peklo’s class are almost finished with weaving inspired by Athena and Arachne. Mrs. Harris’ class has just finished an Aztec headdress. Mrs. Huffman’s and Mrs. Weihe's classes finished coloring their ceramic disk.
Problem-Solving, Learning, and Discovery - Eureka!
Our fourth graders wrapped up their Eureka! reading unit by creating an original invention and then pitching their ideas at a parent event. They studied the works of several inventors, utilized the engineering design process, and created their own unique prototypes. The creativity and presentation skills were amazing! Hopefully we'll see these inventions on store shelves soon!
