The Hurricane Watch January 2025
Happy New Year, CMS Families!
We hope all of our students had a wonderful holiday break and enjoyed the extra snow day. The first semester was a great success, and we loved celebrating our students in December. We're looking forward to more celebrations this semester and hope all of our students can participate!
We Need Your Help!
Every school day is important, and we miss our students when theyβre not here. We discussed this during student meetings today, and we're excited to announce a friendly competition between grade levels. Please help us by ensuring your child arrives at school on time each day. Weβll celebrate students with perfect attendance for the second semester (beginning today) in May with a special prize!

Georgia School Climate Survey
The Georgia School Climate Survey (GSCS) is an anonymous, statewide survey instrument that identifies school safety and climate issues that impact student achievement. In order to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for your child, the Georgia Department of Education collects survey information from students during the school year. The survey is customized to elementary students in grades 3 - 5 and middle/high school students in grades 6 - 12. The survey for middle and high school students takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and covers various topics such as school climate and safety, alcohol and drug use, and mental health. All student survey data is anonymous and self-reported.
Participation is voluntary, and all responses are anonymous. Parents can learn more about the survey by visiting DCSS Georgia School Climate Survey Information.
To opt your child out, please email your student's counselor by Friday, January 17, 2025. Be sure to include if you wish to opt your student out of the lesson, the survey, or both.
