Dear Parents/Carers,
This week, has been extremely busy in school but it has been the most fulfilling in so many ways.
A Few Memorable Moments
On Monday, we held our Summer Fair and this was the best so far. We pulled out all the stops by having bouncy castles, tombolas, different stalls and even donkeys! We had our fingers crossed that the weather would hold, and I am so pleased that it did. It was a wonderful afternoon and I have received such a lot of feedback confirming its success. Thank you to everyone for coming. I would also like to extend a huge ‘Thank You’ to all our fantastic parent helpers who supported to make this happen and to the Larks Hill admin staff who organised the event and made it happen – we could not do this without you!
Tuesday evening was very special as we held our Larks Hill’s Got Talent Show. This year, we opened it up to the whole school and had a range of talent on show from all ages. The children were amazing and the evening was a huge success. Thank you to Miss Howard for hosting, to Mrs Smith for the music, to Mr Pugh (school caretaker) for setting up and to Mr Khan and Mrs Newton-Miller for supporting me with the judging. Mrs Newton-Miller brought the fun element by dressing as Simon Cowell! She stayed in role all evening and was a real sport! We cannot wait for next year!
On Wednesday, pupils who achieved 100% attendance were treated to a Falconry Experience in school where they were able to meet and hold magnificent birds of prey. This was a lovely morning and so well deserved by all pupils. What an achievement!
On Wednesday evening, Year 6 put on their end of year production for their parents and it was spectacular! They performed the musical, ‘Move It’ which is the story of one boy's journey out of angry isolation into acceptance and reconciliation. It was a dynamic and unforgettable experience for all involved and was an excellent way to bring the year group together before they leave us next week. Well done Year 6! Again, a huge ‘Thank You’ to Miss Howard, Mrs Smith and Mrs Harris for putting this together and to Mr Pugh, who again, helped set everything up.
On Thursday, our Year 3 pupils put on a musical performance for parents and carers with the support of Mrs Atack, their guitar teacher. The class have been learning guitar all year and have thoroughly enjoyed their lessons. This was really evident as they performed. Thank you to Mrs Atack for pulling together this lovely performance.
On Thursday afternoon, Year 6 had a Prize Giving Award Assembly. Parents were invited to watch as pupils received their ‘Class of ‘24’ hoodies amongst other gifts and a certificate recognising a particular strength. It was a really enjoyable afternoon to celebrate this wonderful class. Thank you Miss Howard and Mrs Smith for organising this.
