Have a wonderful Winter Break!
As we approach the end of the first half of the school year, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support of our students and teachers. Your involvement and encouragement play a vital role in creating a thriving learning environment for everyone at Woodcrest Elementary.
As we head into the winter break, we wish you a joyful and restful holiday season filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with family and friends.
We are excited to welcome all of our students back on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, ready to embark on our next chapter of learning and growth together.
Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community. Happy holidays and warmest wishes for the New Year!
Supporting Students Over Break
To help support your child with their academic skills during the Winter Break:
Set up a daily reading routine, where students can read independently or as a family. The Fullerton Public Library has a Winter Reading Program where children can earn prizes! Sign up on their website.
Practice math skills, using games with cards or dice, to reinforce addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division.
Create writing opportunities by writing holiday cards or journaling about Winter Break activities.
Ipad Parental Controls at Home:
Just a reminder as we head into the holiday break next week that you can use your smart phone to control your student's ipad when you are at home. Please go to our school web page, mouse over parents at the top, then click on "Control your student's ipad at home" and you will get instructions on how to link the ipad to your phone. You can turn the ipad off, limit the apps available, make it so only one app is available (like Sora for reading library books), or give the device a time out. You can do this all year from 6pm to 6:30am every weekday and all weekend long, but holiday breaks are a great time to try out this feature.
LCAP District Survey
The Fullerton School District wants ALL students to be successful in school. So, each year we create a plan to explain how we are going to help all students reach this goal. This required plan is called the Local Control Accountability Plan, or LCAP. You can read about the plan at bit.ly/fsdlcap. The LCAP reflects feedback from parents, teachers, principals, staff, students and community members. This survey gives you an opportunity to be part of this process. Your feedback is important to us! Please complete the survey here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSekCRhDruymc5fC_1QXXtlplcaeJzFolxymV2tlZSzxL0nZg/viewform
Band Concert January 16, 2025
Come and enjoy the music of our 5th and 6th grade band students. They have worked hard and grown so much in their musical experience! This is a great time for them to show off all they have learned for you and the community.
Family Arts Night January 23, 2025
Come and enjoy an evening full of art with the whole family. Experiences include musical instruments, digital art projects and much more! This is a great night to do some exciting activities together!
PTA Membership!
We are looking to have 100% of our families join PTA. That is at least one member from each family joining PTA! This will be an amazing goal for our school and will allow us to stand out and shine among the community! We want all our families involved in the lives of our students! Let's go we can do this!! Families for an additional 10 dollar donation to PTA we will include birthday wishes to our outside Marquee.
Parent Volunteers
We would love to have as many parents come and volunteer in our classrooms as possible. If you believe you will be volunteering in the classroom please come to the main office and receive information on what is needed to be a parent volunteer. Please note there are various levels of volunteering based on whether a parent will be directly supervised the entire time or not. Our classrooms will be having room parents this year so consider being a room parent for your child's classroom.
