Reminder: Respectful Use of Church Property
Hello all! This is a gentle reminder that the church is a shared property. Each week, we see hundreds of people come in and out, to attend groups and classes, to socialize, to volunteer, and to worship together.
Recently, a staff member came in to find that food had been left on the kitchen floor and in the sink, and that a hook on the wall had been torn down and left on the floor. Unfortunately, staff coming in to find uncleaned spills and garbage left out, particularly in the kitchen, is not uncommon. It is, however, deeply disappointing.
Please ensure that you are being respectful in your use of the church building and property. This means doing your best to clean up after yourself and leave each room as you found it. Please do not leave food or other garbage on tables, on counters, in the sinks, on the floor, etc. If you spill something, do your best to clean it up. If you accidentally break something, please let a staff member know. If you are a member of a group who meets at the church, take a couple of minutes at the end of your scheduled time to ensure that the room is in good shape for the next group. They'll surely appreciate it.
Pastoral Care Team
Congregants, please remember that Rev. Mary’s absence does not mean that spiritual or emotional support is absent, too! The Pastoral Care Team (PCT) is a caring group of individuals who serve at the invitation of Reverend Mary and extend the care of the congregation to those who are in special need.
If you would like support from the Pastoral Care Team, you can identify members on Sunday mornings or at other church events by looking for the green Pastoral Care stoles they wear. If you are not physically at church, you can reach out via email, and a team member will get back to you shortly to see how they can be of service.
Your Pastoral Care Team members are as follows:

UU Social Justice in support of Fulfilling Our Promises to Afghan Allies
A bipartisan group of Senators is trying to attach an important amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The amendment, in the form of new legislation, includes many provisions of the previously proposed Afghanistan Adjustment Act (AAA). The new legislation is the Fulfilling Promises to Afghan Allies Act (FFPAA). It is vital to act now!
The NDAA is regarded as “must-pass" legislation and is expected to be considered in the Senate in September 2024. Therefore, we must voice our support early and firmly, marshaling UU voices across the U.S. and every state.
UUSJ has prepared a new Action Alert in support of Afghans urging Congress to provide a pathway to permanent residency for Afghan Refugees. Please send this message now.
