The Llewellyn Friday Flyer
May 24, 2024
Dear Families,
Memorial Weekend is here and marks the official start of summer. But, wait! We are not quite to summer yet!
Last Tuesday our PTA held its final meeting of the year. Our new board was voted in and the draft of next year's budget was shared. I want to congratulate the new board members and thank our outgoing board and all the volunteers for their tireless service to our students and staff. This year we felt so much love from the Sunshine Committee with the fabulous lunches & snacks, Staff Appreciation Week activities, and the support for learning all year long from volunteers as well as the generous stipends and grants for field trips and classroom necessities.
I also want to thank our Foundation Board and volunteers for your leadership in acquiring funds to support staffing positions. Next year will bring changes to this organization as a result of changes in policy by the PPS School Board, but your legacy will live on in the 24-25 school year as Llewellyn will be able to add a half--time counselor and possibly two educational assistants to support large class sizes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all involved in the PTA and Foundation! It has been an honor to work alongside people who care so deeply for our students and staff and the success of Llewellyn.
To wrap up this week, I was fortunate to be able to host June Tirrell, my final Guest Principal for the Day. She is a born leader, quiet yet determined with her eye on helping Llewellyn to be the best it can be. June juggled activities with her class alongside being a school leader (huh...seems familiar some how), with grace. I loved getting to know her better and hearing about her experience as a Llewellyn student. Thank you, June for an amazing day! I hope your love of reading will bring you many more opportunities throughout your whole life!
Reminder! It is not too late to make your voice heard by completing our Successful School Survey (ends May 31st). The information gathered from this survey is used to generate change and will be very helpful to Llewellyn's new principal. You can find the link and more information below.
Enjoy the long weekend! (Memorial Day is Monday-NO school)

Please help us celebrate Mrs. Frisby's Retirement!
Please join us to celebrate the amazing teaching career of Susan Frisby. We will be gathering in the school garden after school on Thursday, June 13th at 2:30 to honor her retirement. Please spread the word!
2023-24 Llewellyn Yearbooks: Many of you have been asking about yearbooks this year. I am happy to share that this year every student will receive this year's yearbook (put together by our own incredible Kellie) for free! This is my way of saying thank you to all our amazing students and families who have made my time at Llewellyn special. We will hold them until the last week of school. Teachers will decide when to distribute them in the last days of school. I can't wait for you to see them! Thank you to all who sent in photos!
From the Office
Parents, if you know your student(s) will not be returning to Llewellyn next year, please let the Office know as soon as possible. This helps with planning our class lists for next year (starting soon), as well as making it possible for your new school to register your student(s) for next year. You can email Mark (mrobb@pps.net) or Kellie (kgrunde@pps.net).
Kindergarten Music Performance-Thursday, May 30 at 6:30pm
The kindergarten music program is Thursday, May 30th at 6:30pm. Students should arrive at 6:10 and meet Ms ZWB in the music room while families have a seat in the cafetorium. Program will be around 30- 40 minutes.
Looking forward to seeing you there! Ms. ZWB (ZeeDUHBee)
Your Voice Matters! Survey ends May 31st!
The Successful School Survey is our annual district-wide school climate and feedback survey. This is the only time the district hears from students, staff and families system-wide. Gathering this data will help us understand experiences at our schools. School climate is a key component influencing outcomes for students. Your feedback helps the district gather data to make informed decisions about school climate and culture. Llewellyn wants to hear from you!!!
The survey will take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete and is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Somali, Vietnamese, and Chinese.

Llewellyn is striving for 100% participation this year! An email was sent from the district with more information. Any questions please reach out to Ms. Kellie (kgrunde@pps.net).
3rd–5th grade Parents
We are closing in on the end of the year and that means it is almost time for your student(s) to turn in their Chromebook! Students will be turning them in sometime on June 10th – 12th (your teacher will have the day and time), with the 13th available for last-minute, individual returns. Students are expected to return their Chromebook, Power Cord, and Case. Starting this year, lost Cords and Chromebooks will be charged to the student.
If you would like your student(s) to have their Chromebook available to them for the summer, please print, fill out, and sign (both parent AND student) THIS FORM and have your student return it to school, instead of their Chromebook, on their class’ appointed day and time. Copies of the form are also available outside the office for pick-up.
Any student who does not return either the summer form, or their Chromebook, will be considered to have lost their device. Lost devices are immediately deactivated remotely and will not be able to be used.
If you have any questions, please contact Mark in the office.

From The Foundation
The PPS school board recently voted to overhaul local school foundations like Llewellyn's starting in July. There will be transition information available in the coming weeks but it is important to note that funds raised through June 30 will still benefit Llewellyn in the 24-25 school year. Thank you to everyone who has contributed this year - through April 2024, we have raised over $49,000 (66%) towards our goal of $75,000. You can still donate HERE through June.
Still need to pick up your sign and magnet? Email below to arrange pick up.
