Follett Community

Have you thought about using the Follett Community to better understand what Destiny can do to make your school life easier? Here's a short video on how to create an account and follow the guided learning to get you started on your Destiny exploration.

OverDrive/Sora

The following product updates are now available in Sora!

Device notifications
Students can now choose to receive a notification when a title they put on hold is available to borrow. Notifications are supported on Android and iOS—support for browser notifications is currently underway, so stay tuned for updates.

Student dashboard

Advantage customization: Shared collections and Advantage accounts can now independently set up and customize the student dashboard.
Extended reading data access: To help you better track and assess progress over time, you can now choose whether the dashboard retains data for one year or two.

Shelf talkers
You can use shelf talkers to share extra information about titles in your collection, like recommendations, trivia, favorite quotations, and other thoughts. Shelf talkers appear on a title’s details page in Sora within 24 hours of setup.

LORI Certification update

More than 70 RILINK member school libraries completed LORI Certification. Certification allows schools to borrow materials from Ocean State Libraries and some Academic Libraries, as well as participate in the statewide delivery services. In addition, 24 RILINK member libraries are participating in Cross District Loan CDL enabling their patrons to initiate a hold on materials from the catalogs of other CDL member libraries. Any library that has LORI Certification may participate in CDL. If interested contact Karen.

Professional Development Information

RILINK has an asynchronous certificate option. After viewing a recording send a request for a Certificate of Attendance through Request Help. You will receive a survey form to complete and submit. When the form is submitted, the certificate will be sent to you.

Just a reminder that CultureGrams is included with your RILINK membership. Here's a quick link to activities you might want to try yourself, or share with specific teachers in your school. The guide is separated out by grade level and would also make great sub plans for days when you're out unexpectedly! It can be found at the bottom of the CultureGrams home page.
