This year, as in 2024, Read Across America Day coincides with the start of Exceptional Children's Week. To honor both occasions, our theme will be "Celebrating Diverse and Exceptional Readers".
On March 3, LC students can choose and dress up as a character from either a book that represents their own identity or a book featuring a child with exceptionalities. Need inspiration? Check out the book lists here, here, and here.

Message from the LC nurse
Please ensure that your child has a complete change of clothes in their backpack, including 3rd grade students. It is wet and muddy outside, and the Clinic cannot always guarantee a change of clothes for your little Owl. Also, if your child does have to borrow clothes from the clinic, please note that you do not need to return any underwear items. Thank you.

Scoliosis Screening for 6th and 8th grade students
This month (after February Break) Upper Campus Nursing Staff will be conducting Scoliosis Screening for 6th and 8th grade students. The DeKalb County Board of Health parent letter that explains the importance of the screening, can be viewed here.
We are aware that many students are screened by their physician during the routine annual exam. Also, several students may not feel comfortable with the process of the screening.
Please feel free to check the 'opt out' portion of the #4400 form if you chose not to have your student/child screened while in school. All forms will need to be completed, emailed, or returned by the student before testing.
If you have any further questions and/or concerns please email Nurse Assistant Davalyn White (Miss Davalyn).
