Schurr Announcements
SCHURR Expectation of the Week: Respectful

-Dolores Huerta

FAFSA Free Application for Federal Student Aid is scheduled to soft-launch on October 1st, with a full opening on December 1st. FAFSA is the application that gives you access to both Federal aid (Pell Grant) and California aid (Cal Grant). This is free money to help pay for future education in trade school, community college, or 4-year college.
Mid-Term Week, Tuesday, October 8 - Friday, October 11: Next week is the last week of the quarter. We will have a Mid-Term week, using the SBAC testing schedule we have used the past three years:
- Tuesday/Thursday: Periods 1, 2, and 3;
- Wednesday/Friday: Periods 4, 5, and 6.
Out of Classroom Policy/Hall Passes: Please continue to have your students use the lanyard hall passes whenever you allow a student to leave class during instructional time.
PSAT/NMSQT Test: The National Merit Scholarship Program, a competitive scholarship, bases awards on PSAT/NMSQT test score. Students can practice by clicking here.
PTSA Elections: Please join our PTSA. By collaborating and co-hosting events with Schurr's PTSA, we are able to provide many more opportunities for our students and staff. Elections for a new president, vice president, and treasure will be held in Schurr's library at 3:45 on Wednesday. Thank you for your support. We appreciate your collaboration and support.
Translation Tools: Please use the following translation tools to support our multilingual learners. Per Cummins and Krashen's research, multilingual learners who are starting to learn a target language, in this case English, typically go through a "silent period," although with support (like collaborative pair-share/ turn and talk) they can understand and produce what they are learning. These translation tools can support them in this process. Here are some additional resources to support newcomers.
