WMHS Weekly Information
February 10 - 14
From the Principal's Desk
Zebra Nation,
Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
The second count period for the State of Michigan - 'Count Day #2' is this Wednesday, February 12. It is imperative that EVERY WMHS registered student is AT school and attends EVERY class on this day. Our student count determines our funding that we receive from the State. The funding from the State determines our programming that we can offer at WMHS. Be at school on Count Day #2, so that we can receive all of our funding.
Happenings this week:
- The JGHS vs. WMHS basketball games will be at WHMS on Tuesday. Have FUN at the games. Make good decisions. There should be NO shenanigans taking place at the games. Keep the event clean with no violence! At this point in our school year, if you break the Code of Conduct at the games, your choices will be dealt with severe consequences - no dances, no future sporting events, suspension, etc. Show your Wayne Pride! Have fun. Keep it clean.
- Valentine Gram sales will take place during all lunches, Monday - Thursday.
- Pre-Festival Band and Orchestra Concert on Thursday.
- Valentine's Day is Friday. Friday is also the last day of school before our mid-winter break. There will be no school Monday, February 17 - Friday, February 21.
- We will be back in school on Monday, February 24, which is also the last full week of February.
- Stay on top of your academics this week, as the 3rd Quarter is moving right along!
Have a great week and an amazing mid-winter break!

Cool Classrooms
World History students used Legos to build a classroom community, highlight the importance of communication, and understand historical perspective. Teams of students had to construct a lego structure that matched a model. Only one member of the team was allowed to see the model and then orally give directions to their teammates. Students saw that the final products were different from each other as well as the model. This allowed for a great discussion of how historical perspective can create views on the same event.
Student Activities
Student Council
Our student KLAA representatives have been busy preparing for the KLAA Leadership Forum in March. Teams of students from every school in the KLAA will be presenting on one practice that helps energize other student leaders to make extraordinary things happen in their school. Wayne Memorial and John Glenn will be sharing information on the practice of encouraging the heart. Student Council members from across the KLAA will have the opportunity to attend the forum and hear from their peers.
Upcoming Student Council Events
2/12: Josten's Leadership Conference
2/22-2/24: State leadership conference in Grand Rapids, MI
2/26 Senate meeting 2nd hour in lecture hall.

There will be a new member orientation after school on Wednesday, February 12 from 2-3pm.
There were 45 people that interviewed and all were absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the program could only bring in 24. We want to remind the others that applied that we think you did a great job and we wish that we could bring you all in.
