Art
Hi Families!
Happy November!
All students have been learning about color theory. Kids in grades kinder through second grade have been making abstract paintings with tempera paint. They have been using line and shape to organize ideas, while experimenting with color mixing. Third and fourth graders are learning about warm and cool colors as well as translucency and color mixing. They are creating a tissue paper decoupage with an opaque silhouette. Fifth graders are learning about pop artists and their use of primary colors while making a mixed media piece featuring an onomatopoeia word. (Some of them will even learn how to spell onomatopoeia!)
We always love donations of egg cartons! When students work with tempera or acrylic paint, egg cartons are used as paint palettes. We throw them out after use, so we go through quite a lot of them.
As always, please reach out with questions or concerns or ideas. We welcome your input about current and future art projects!
Be well,
Thea Storz
