Spirit Day
We encourage all students, faculty & staff to wear Red, White, & Blue on Tuesday, Nov 5
to recognize the importance of Election Day!
In collaboration with Chief Cane and our local police department, Chief Fleming and our local fire department, Hunterdon Central's Transportation Dept, as well as our School Safety and Security Committee, we will walk the students to the Fire Department building in the afternoon of November 15th, and dismissal on that day will take place there instead of at the school.
For families who would want to change their typical Friday dismissal procedure, please complete this form.
For families who wish to keep their typical Friday dismissal procedures the same, you DO NOT need to complete this form.
As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our main office.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
**The Sign Up on the Parent Portal will close at 8am on Monday, 11/4**
Dear Families,
We’re looking forward to our parent/teacher conferences on the evening of November 5 and the afternoon of November 6, 2024. Please note that students will be dismissed early at 12:50 PM on both days, with no lunch served.
Most elementary teachers should have enough slots available for one conference per family, and they look forward to meeting you all.
For grades 5-8 and Special Area teachers, we encourage you to check Genesis for your child’s grades and sign up for a conference for any classes where you have questions or concerns.
To schedule a conference in the Parent Portal:
Log into the Parent Portal
Go to the conferences tab
Click on “Schedule conference for Fall Conferences" in the bottom of the box
Click on the day and a time that you would like a conference.
Click the reserve button. Be sure to select the reserve button under the teacher you wish to schedule a conference with.
For multiple students, click on each student in the top right corner and follow each of the steps above.
Please contact Britian Moore (bmoore@dtsk8nj.org) if you experience difficulty with Genesis.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to connecting with you!

School Choice
Delaware Township School is one of New Jersey's Inter-district Public School Choice districts and enables us to enroll students who do not reside within Delaware Township without any cost to parents. The program increases educational opportunities for students and their families by providing students with school options outside of their district of residence and giving parents the power to select a school program that best serves their child's individual needs. The deadline to apply for the Choice Program for the 2025-2026 school year is November 25, 2024. This is a state-wide deadline for all choice districts.

Role Models of Character Education
Each month, our DTS students will discuss and learn about a character education trait.
September's character education trait was Respect.
A student from each PK-5 homeroom and Gr 6-8 content area was chosen because he/she demonstrated respect this month and a role model for others.
Congratulations to all of the recipients below!
In October, we will highlight students who demonstrate Gratitude!
As we enter November, a month dedicated to gratitude, we’re excited to introduce a special initiative: our Gratitude Jar! Located in the cafeteria, this jar invites both students and staff to participate in a heartwarming activity that fosters appreciation within our school community.
Here’s how it works: Take a moment to jot down one thing you’re grateful for and drop it into the jar. You can choose to remain anonymous or include your name—whichever feels right for you.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) are observing an increase in reports of pneumonia. The proportion of patients discharged from emergency departments with a diagnosis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae-associated pneumonia has been increasing across the United States and New Jersey. Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections are typically mild, but can result in severe illness among vulnerable populations, including young children, older adults, and individuals with underlying health conditions.
Please refer to the link below for more information on preventing respiratory illness.
https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/prevention/index.html
Please report to the school nurse if your child has been diagnosed with or is being treated for pneumonia so we can keep an accurate track of the illness in school.
This week we have had a few students with that diagnosis and a few are being treated prophylactically with antibiotics. Their sympotms started as a cold with fever, cough and congestion.
Periodically throughout the year, students' artwork will be featured & spotlighted on Ms. Soleimani's art wall across from her room. This month, we'd like to recognize the efforts of: Lydia Zheng, John Van Saun, Cameron Clarke, Cora Eckert, Wyatt Kafarski, Ryann Emanuele, Nikko Parros and Olivia Fattell!
Elementary chorus rehearsals have begun! They are held for interested 4th and 5th graders on
Wednesday mornings at 8:10am until the 11th of December.
Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month.
This month, we offer recognition for the significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment and growth of the United States!
