What's Happening??!!
~ Hawley School Newsletter: March 3, 2024 ~
From the Desk of Mr. Moretti.....
Dear Hawley Parents/Guardians, Teachers, and Staff,
Bye Bye February : Hello March!! It has been busy. Kindergarten Built-A-Husky, we had a fun-filled Spirit Week, the Ballet came for a performance, and Student Council raised money to spruce up the Reading Lounge. The second Marking Period will be ending shortly with Progress Reports being available soon.
Buckle up, stay seated, and keep your hands and feet in the car at all times, as you read on to find out What's Happening at Hawley .....
~ Progress Reports & Conferences ~
Thursday and Friday, March 14-15, are 3-Hr Early Release Days for Teacher Requested Parent Conferences. These conferences are on an as-needed basis. If a conference is not requested by the teacher, it is because we do not feel it is necessary at this time or that we are current in communication regarding a concern. As always, if you would like to discuss your child’s progress or have questions, feel free to contact us at any time throughout the school year.
Teachers will reach out shortly with more information.
~ Be the "i" in KIND ~
Our motto at Hawley School is to Work Hard and Be Kind. We are always on the lookout for Kindness. Kindness that stands out by going above and beyond every day expectations. We want everyone to be the "i" in KIND.
The students below were recently recognized for always helping to clean up without being asked even when it is not your mess, giving a compliment to a classmate that made his day, being a role-model in class during transitions and partner work, and bringing a friend's lunch and coat to the Cafe when they were in the nurse's office.
~ Spirit Week ~
Student Council wanted to raise money to spruce up our Reading Lounge. We had a fun-filled Spirit Week: Students had Pajama Day, Crazy Hair Day. They dressed like teachers and had Color Wars. A Tie-Dye Day wrapped up the week.
We raised $1,111!!! Money will be used to buy beanbag chairs, pillows, blankets, and lights for the Reading Lounge.
~ Thank You!!! ~
It's a Matter of PRINCIPAL !
~ Specials ~
Our Students recently participated in Jump Rope for Heart. Hawley School raised $2,370 for the Heart Association!!
Thank you to Mr. Sortino and our students, as well as to all of our parents for their generous support.

~ Stuff-A-Husky ~
Last year, our PTA sponsored a Stuff-A-Husky event where all students stuffed a husky to dress and keep. They want to keep the tradition going by having Kindergartners have the opportunity each year so they also have a Hawley Husky.
Thank You PTA, It was so much fun!
~ Snow Daze ~
Our first graders had a (snow) ball enjoying our recent snow event ;0)
~ Ballet Performance ~
We were fortunate enough to have a local dance troop come in for a wonderful performance. Some of the dancers were former Hawley students.
~ Lost & Found ~
Our Lost & Found has grown. If you recognize something, please remind your child to go pick up their stuff.
~ Important Reminders / General Info ~
- Drop Off / pick-Up: With all the water and cold/warm temperatures, we have a few pot holes in our parking lot. We have filled them but please be mindful and drive carefully.
- Attendance: A student's success is directly connected to them being in school, on time, all day. Please be mindful of absences, tardies, and going home early. It adds up.

Mr. M was visiting every classroom to take class photos for Color Wars Day.
He visited a Grade 1 class where the Grade Color was ORANGE.
" Orange you glad that I came and
took your picture? " Mr. M joked
~ NO LAUGHTER ~
" That was a joke " Mr. M sadly reported
" It may have been a joke " a girl replied, " but it wasn't very funny "
