A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
On September 26 we will host our annual Open House. This is for STUDENTS AND FAMILIES! This is an opportunity for your child to highlight all aspects of their day at school. I receive classroom newsletters and emails so I know that a lot of information about teaching and learning is delivered home. HOWEVER, there are some other important members of our team you don't always get to meet such as our UA team, special education team, interventionists and more! All of these amazing people will showcase their spaces on this night and your child will lead you around (with help from us, if needed) so you can get a comprehensive picture of RES!
We will start at 6:00 in the gym for a short presentation and then families will be on their own with the help of a list of potential places to visit that will be sent soon.
We hope you enjoy this time but PLEASE know that if you have questions about our curriculum or your questions about the classroom have not yet been addressed, you can reach out to your child(ren)'s teacher!
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts
IMPORTANT NOTES:
The code for the BUS APP (First View) to track the buses is TWRG!
NEW Drop Off Routine-Stars September 23
Now that the first few weeks have come and gone, we are evaluating our drop off procedures. This year we are excited to have over 20 preschool and prek students arriving each morning! We will be shifting our arrival pattern in the morning beginning, Monday, September 23. This will give us time to communicate the changes and plan.
- Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten families will enter the parking lot and turn RIGHT, dropping off at the front door. Preschool staff would unload three or four children at a time to keep traffic flowing so please pull up. Staff will direct until the routine becomes automatic.
- Students in Grades K-4 would ALL be dropped off at the BACK of the building near the new Tide Pool Playground.
There will be plenty of staff to support families and if mistakes are made the first few days, it is OK! We will all transition together. We think this is a safer and more logistically feasible process but if you have any thoughts or questions prior to implementation, feel free to call or email!

Biking to School
We have seen an increase of students biking to and from school, which is great! In observing the intersection turning into the school, it is apparent that an adult needs to be supervising so students are safe. The Rye PD has been working with me to plan if an officer cannot be present due to an emergency call. No process is perfect and officers may be called during the morning time and not have the ability to organize a back up with the school. We will try our best but if you know there is no officer and do not see RES staff, please give us a call and one of our staff members will assist our bikers to get into school safely. After watching this and getting trained by Officer Webster from Rye PD, there are many factors at play at this particular intersection so we will continue to do everything we can to keep our RES students safe.
Quick Notes
-If you drop your older child off in the front of the school (grades 3 and 4) and want to drop a first or second grader off at the same time to lessen the traffic in the back of the school, feel free. They know how to walk through the school and we have a staff member at the door to guide them outside! Kindergarten should still get dropped off in the back!
-PLEASE ensure your child is sitting and buckled in their seat at arrival and dismissal if your car is running or moving. We are getting quite nervous as we watch children not buckled or standing up as they drive in and out of the parking lot.
