Weekly Message
From the Desk of Mr. Nelson
A little more short 'n sweet this week
๐๐ฅช๐We are going to include the monthly hot lunch choices as a visual menu you can click and print or click and reference if you'd like. Find it further down in this newsletter - it has the name/picture of the hot lunch choice for each day. We hope that helps as you work with your child to decide between home/school lunches. Remember that there is also an option to have either an uncrustable PBJ or yogurt/string cheese as alternative lunch choices at school.
๐On another note, with next week being so short followed by Fall Break, we will not be sending a Primary Press. We will pick back up on 12/1. Don't miss us too much until then!
๐๐ Finally, I have a request for assistance from our families who pick-up after school in our Creamery Loop. I get it - I know traffic is tight, the line can pile up as you wait for the bell to ring and dismiss students, and that it does take time. That said, I ask that you please do not enter the "exit" lane to enter our loop. Please either wait in the line, or if you need to park, still use the entrance lane and drive through on the left side. We have had some "near miss" head-ons as cars exit into the street while others attempt to enter the loop in that lane. Thank you!
๐ In the meantime, enjoy the Fall Break! ๐

District News
School and District Report Cards
On November 14, DPI issued a District Report Card for our district and for each district in Wisconsin in addition to a School Report Card for each school. As a District we โExceed Expectationsโ and Waubesa Intermediate School, Indian Mound Middle School, and McFarland High School school each earned a rating of โExceeds Expectationsโ this year as well. Conrad Elvehjem Primary School received a rating of โSatisfactory Progressโ under alternate accountability, because grades EC-2 do not participate in state testing.
All report cards are available online at http://dpi.wi.gov/accountability/report-cards. Please see this letter for additional information.
State Bound Student Fan Buses: When do we have them?
McFarland students are amazing and we continue to have more and more students traveling to state competitions for various events. Some of you may wonder how we decide when we do and do not send fan buses to events. We offer fan buses for students in grades 6-12 who are traveling to state high school team events where we are able to supervise students in a contained area for a single event and when the bus departs during the school day. The reason for focusing on events that leave during the school day is that we have found that students do not sign up to ride fan buses that leave outside of the school day. The activities that meet this criteria includes:
Fall: volleyball, football, boys soccer
Winter: basketball, hockey
Spring: baseball, softball, lacrosse, girls soccer
If you have any questions about this information please contact Athletic Director Paul Ackley at ackleyp@mcfsd.org, 608-838-4568.

Ryan's Roundup
3 juniors at McFarland High School, Emmi Everson, Kendra Mueller, and Lauren Boehnen are representing McFarland DECA through organizing the Ryan's Roundup events. Ryan's Roundup is an annual event that raises money to support kids, like Ryan Udell, a current 8th grader at the Middle School, with muscular dystrophy to attend the MDA summer camp which gives these kids a chance to escape their typical everyday life and daily challenges. They need your help! Help support McFarland DECA in their goal to donate $10,000 under Ryan's name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. You can help by using the link to donate or buy a shirt and attend the Mcfarland High School Boys and Girls basketball games on December 1st and 5th. (Wear your shirt to the games!) Help make this a successful and memorable event for Ryan! Classmunity Link
