Happy September!

Please read our newsletter each week for important information.

  • With the direction and support of our School Resource Officer, we will have a lockdown drill at some point in the upcoming week. The date and time will not be announced. Teachers will review procedures for this type of drill with students prior to the drill occurring. Student safety is our top priority!
  • Our Candy Man Fundraiser is in progress. Students received packets to bring home to sell items last week. Please support our school and help us raise funds to support incentives and programs for students. Packets are due back on September 11. The Main Event for students selling 10 items or more will be held on October 30. We are looking forward to this fun time!
  • You should have received information regarding how to sign up for Rooms. This is the platform for messaging with teachers. Please reach out to your child's teachers if you do not have this information.
  • There is a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in STEM challenges through NC State University on several Saturdays each semester. It is totally free, includes lunch and we transport students to and from NC State's campus. Complete the application here and if you need help, here is a help link. You can also reach out to Mr. O'Shea at toshea@ecps.us. When you complete the application, please use discount code SCHOLAR100 to avoid payment as all West Edgecombe students are able to attend free.
  • Infinite Campus Parent Portal is now available. Using this portal you can view your students' grades and attendance. To register for the portal, you must bring photo identification to the school to receive your personal registration code, linking you to your student. Office hours are 7:30am-4:00pm each day.
  • Please make note of our Uniform Policy below. School tshirts are sold daily. T-shirts are $12 and hoodies are $25.
  • The District Calendar can be found here.
  • Our school, specific calendar, including academic and sporting events, can be found here. Consider downloading the ECPS app to easily access this calendar any time.
  • All rising 7th graders must be current on their immunizations. See the flyer below for more details.

A few reminders:

  • The tardy bell rings at 8:05am. Please make sure your student is in the building by 8:05am. Students not in class by 8:05am will receive tardy documentation.
  • 11:40am is the halfway point in the school day. If your student checks in after this time or checks out before this time, he/she will be counted absent for the entire day.
  • All students must be in uniform daily. See the image above for uniform expectations.
