February is National Career Technical Education Month
SST1 CTE Consultant Lisa Hite holds a bi-monthly virtual CTE Coffee Hour that covers timely career tech topics, successes and challenges as well as upcoming PD opportunities from DEW, SST1, Tech Prep, ACTE and Advance CTE. The sessions link recruitment, selection and placement, and support for students with disabilities to support all learners, and their path to graduation and beyond.
Anyone with career tech courses or interest in adding CT content to their school or district is encouraged to attend. The next coffee hour session is March 19, 2025 from 9:00 - 10:00, Register HERE.

Re-Defining the Goal Book Study
SST1 Consultant Lisa Hite is offering a virtual book study on the book Re-Defining the Goal: The True Path to Career Readiness in the 21st Century by Kevin Fleming. The dates for this book study are June 10, June 24, July 8, August 5, and August 19, 2025. Participants may choose to attend 9:00 - 10:30 or 2:00 - 3:30 each day. 2025 ALL Ohio Conference

Dr. Kevin Fleming, founder and CEO of Catapult, will kick off the conference, igniting discussion around ways to (re)define education for students. Bridges for Success: Aligning Industry, Education and Workforce
The University of Toledo is bringing Mark Perna to area educators on October 31, 2025 for a session titled Bridges for Success: Aligning Industry, Education and Workforce. Mark is the founder and CEO of TFS Results, a full-service strategic consulting firm at the forefront of the national paradigm shift in education and workforce development. Additional details on the session will be forthcoming.
Updated Approved Lists of Core Curriculum and Instructional Materials in ELA and Evidence-Based Reading Intervention Now Available
The Department of Education & Workforce's updated list of approved core curriculum and instructional materials includes all submitted materials that met the required criteria for prekindergarten and kindergarten-grade 5. The updated list of approved reading intervention programs includes all submitted programs that met the required criteria for prekindergarten-grade 12. The Department’s review process is ongoing. A list of core curriculum and instructional materials and reading intervention programs still under review can be found on the Department’s website. The Department will update both lists once all reviews are complete in March 2025. Additional information, including an updated timeline and resources for districts and schools in selecting materials are also available.
Ohio's Free Online PBIS Professional Development
Interested in learning about PBIS for the first time, taking your knowledge about positive behavioral supports even further, or advancing your understanding about how to implement this important framework? There are resources and on-line trainings available on Ohio's PBIS website HERE. The website offers:
- modules that support Ohio law
- short learning chapters to fit busy schedules
- video examples of best practices and interviews with educators, staff, students, families and administrators
- flexible on-demand modules at no cost
- reflection questions, activities, sample documents, templates, and notetakers to support your online learning
- certificates and credit available

World Languages and Cultures Standards and Model Curriculum
The 2025 Model Curriculum for World Languages and Cultures is now available. The model curriculum reflects the expertise and collaboration of Ohio world language educators and supports the implementation of Ohio’s Learning Standards for World Languages and Cultures.
The resources in the model curriculum provide a framework for planning and developing curriculum, assessments, and learning experiences for Ohio’s K-12 language learners. Educators will find vertically aligned resources for language proficiency outcomes, intercultural content, instructional and language-specific supports, and career and technology connections.
