From the Guidance Office
School Counseling Student/Parent Night rescheduled for October 16, in the cafeteria. Mini College Fair starts at 5:30 pm with a presentation from our guidance department at 6:00 pm.
We highly encourage all students who will be pursuing admission into a 4 year college or university to attend the NACAC College Fair in Jacksonville on Saturday, October 5 at 9 am. Register ahead of time and download the app for an easy college fair experience - https://www.nacacattend.org/24Jacksonville
Did you know that school counselors have curriculum we must follow just like all other educators? We teach students that curriculum via classroom lessons! You can view all classroom lessons here: https://www-bhs.stjohns.k12.fl.us/guidance/presentations-and-resources/
Beachside students get their Bright Futures scholarship evaluations four times before graduation: 10th graders β in April, 11th graders β in April, 12th graders β in October and April! This evaluation comes directly from the FLDOE Office of Student Financial Assistance and is the only way for students to see what they still need to qualify for the Bright Futures scholarship. You can view current Bright Futures scholarship requirements directly from the FLDOE Office of Student Financial Assistance here: https://www.floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org/PDF/BFHandbookChapter1.pdf
Remember community service is NOT a graduation requirement in Florida, however earning at least 100 work or community service hours is a requirement for the Bright Futures scholarship! We recommend students earn those hours before senior year. You can find how to document and turn in hours as well as how to find opportunities on our website - https://www-bhs.stjohns.k12.fl.us/guidance/community-service/
Need a transcript? All transcripts should be ordered via Parchment - https://www-bhs.stjohns.k12.fl.us/guidance/transcript-requests/
Looking for scholarships with an October deadline? Weβve got you covered! Click here: https://www-bhs.stjohns.k12.fl.us/guidance/scholarships/october-scholarships/
