It is hard to believe we have entered the fourth and final quarter of the academic year! Time flies when you are having fun, and working with incredible individuals, which is what our students have proven to be. What an amazing first year for Freedom, having been so blessed with amazing young people, incredibly supportive families, and a community that has truly embraced the educational approach we are providing. We will be finishing the fourth quarter strong, with some engaging career speakers, a very cool field trip, and our second run at cash rewards for our clients who show mastery of the C5 classes. We are building momentum working hard through April, setting up a busy month of May to launch our students into future success.

It is good to be at The Freedom Institute.

This month marked a memorable occasion as we embarked on a captivating field trip to the Revs Institute, delving deep into the fascinating realm of automotive history and innovation. Additionally, we trust that everyone enjoyed a revitalizing spring break, indulging in well-deserved rest and relaxation. It brings us immense pride to announce a significant milestone: Sofie has made her college decision and will be attending the University of South Florida this coming fall! Let's rally behind her with a resounding "Go Bulls!" Sofie's achievement serves as a shining testament to her unwavering perseverance and commitment, and we couldn't be more thrilled for her. As we gear up for the final stretch of the school year, we'd also like to shine a spotlight on our exceptional student athletes. Being homeschooled offers our Eagles the unique opportunity to engage in sports or extracurricular activities either at their local zone school or a private institution. Congratulations to Chet, Christophe, Jake, Julia, Madelynn, and Nathanael for their outstanding contributions to varsity sports this year!

As always, I am proud to work with such a great group of high schoolers every day!

For ELA, we are focusing on some essay writing, both narrative and persuasive. We are also learning about Ethos, Logos, and Pathos, and reading famous speeches to decipher which rhetorical devices were used. Moving forward, we will be reviewing and practicing e-mail etiquette again, to ensure we will be successful in our future workplace!

For Consumerism, for quarter 4, we are working hard to complete the final modules of Dave Ramsey's financial literacy course. These final lessons include housing and real estate, investment and retirement, and global economics. Our favorite extended learning activity was to research Naples apartments or homes students would like to (and can afford to) rent once students graduate!

For Career, we took a field trip to Revs Institute in March, and then their staff members followed up by presenting during our Career class at Freedom. Students engaged in hands-on learning activities and learned about additional opportunities offered at the Revs Ed program!

In Algebra, we are building on the one step equations and building them to multi-step equations. Once complete, students then will graph the line.

For Geometry, we just wrapped up triangles and moving into polygons. Students used various theorems to prove that angles, sides and entire triangles are congruent. Students also used the theorems to solve for lengths and measurements of unknown angles and sides.

For US Government, students have been learning about the Articles of Confederation, House of Representatives, and Senate. Additionally, they researched the local mayoral election and the importance of going out to vote.

The Freedom Institute was so honored to have Governor Ron DeSantis visit us and speak to our students, families, and community members about the importance of parental choice for education. His visit was exciting, and we are thankful he took the time out of his busy schedule to visit and support us.

Our senior, Sofie, is University of South Florida bound! We are SO proud of her! GO BULLS!

In March, prior to spring break we took a field trip to Revs Institute. It was amazing! When we returned from spring break, the staff was kind enough to do a follow up presentation to our students during career class. The students were engaged and it was a fun time for everyone. Freedom students, staff, family and friends participated in the Humane Society 5k race over Spring Break. What a great cause to support on a sunny Saturday. Special congrats to Chet, who won 2nd place in his age division!!!
