Parent/Teacher Conferences
School conferences are an important time for the parent/guardians to talk with the teacher about how their student is doing. Conferences can be in person or on zoom. Interpretation is available by request. Conferences will be October 18 OR October 22 from 3:45-7:00 PM. You only need to attend one day. You can bring your student or come without them. These are important parts of your student's education - please sign-up with your student's teacher to attend. If neither of these days work for you, please schedule another time to meet with the teacher.
Here are some helpful tips on preparing for your student's conference:
Fall Celebration
On October 31, students MAY bring in costumes to wear over their clothes for a school costume parade. Costumes cannot have a mask or a toy weapon. Children must be able to put them on themselves over their clothes.
FAMILIES: Come cheer on your student for our Fall Parade! On October 31st at 2:15 PM - please line the sidewalks along Burgess and the walk way in the park to cheer on our students!
After the parade students will return to class for some fun fall activities. Dismissal is at 3:15 like normal.
Introducing Mr. McPherson
We would like to introduce our new Safety & Security Officer at Burroughs. Mr. Scott McPherson is a retired Lieutenant from the Athens Police Department in Athens, Ohio. He retired in 2017 after a 20 year law enforcement career. Mr. McPherson also has classroom experience, most recently, teaching 5th/6th Social Studies at a charter school on the west side of Columbus. Mr. McPherson will be working to keep our school safe and secure! Say "Hi" when you see him at arrival or dismissal!
Burroughs Hopes & Dreams
At Open House we asked families to share their hopes & dreams for their students. Not just at school, but in life. Here's what families had to say!
- I want my grandsons to come to school and feel safe.
- I want my student to read more & learn cursive writing.
- I want my boys to reach their full potential and be what they want to be in life.
- I want my kids to continue doing well in school.
- I want my student to follow her passion.
- I want them to be content in life, to be strong and independent.
- I would like my daughters to have great careers.
- I want her to grow up and be a teacher!
- To grow in values and intelligence so they can achieve all their dreams!
