Welcome Back!
First Two Weeks of 4th Quarter
The week before and after Spring Break were our first two weeks of fourth quarter, and we started off with a bang! I'm so proud of how well our students started this quarter on the right foot with a strong focus on academic learning and social/emotional growth. Our students in every grade level know the expectation for their class and themselves, and they not only met the expectations but exceeded them! Take a look below for a few highlights from our first weeks in our final quarter of the school year.

Let's Go Cards!
Cardinals Open the 2023 Season
We want to wish a very good luck to the St. Louis Cardinals as they begin their 2023 season! This week, we celebrated Opening Day with our Cardinals gear and cheered them on from right down the street! Good luck, St. Louis Cardinals!!!
Field Trips and Extra Experiences
Thank you, Gateway Arch!
Our 2nd-5th graders got to experience a magical (and free!) field trip to The Gateway Arch on March 31st, where they rode a tram to the top of the Arch for the best bird's eye view of St. Louis (and they could even see Patrick Henry!), toured the History Museum under the Arch, and even had a catered lunch on a riverboat cruise! We are so close to this beautiful monument that we were able to walk to our destination, and our students had an awesome experience!
Thank you, Missouri Humane Society!
Our 3rd-5th graders got to experience a morning learning about animals when the Missouri Human Society came to visit Patrick Henry with a furry visitor in tow. Our students were able to learn about how to care for animals, but they also got to interact with Frank, a 14-year old dog who is a Border Collie/German Shepherd mix. It was a great experience to see our students connecting powerful with a cuddly, fun friend!
Thank you, Books for STL Kids!
Books for STL Kids is a local organization that has partnered with Patrick Henry in the past to provide a "book party" at their home location, but this week, students got to experience the book party brought to them! Kindergarten and first graders were able to come together with volunteers and Patrick Henry staff for a snack, a read aloud, and a party where they got to pick out books to take home with them permanently. It was a great event, and our students were so excited to take home their new treasures!
Upcoming Events
April 4th, Vision Exams for Qualifying Students
In March, all students were screened by Kids Vision for Life St. Louis, and specific students were identified as having vision concerns. Those students received a consent form via email and hardcopy, and will receive a free exam by a licensed optometrist on April 4th. Please make sure you return the consent form and get your child to school on time on April 4th in time for the vision exams.
April 5th, Kindergarten-1st Grade Field Trip
Make sure you get your kindergartener and first grader to school on time on April 5th so they can attend the field trip to the Missouri History Museum! Ms. Versen is collecting field trip permission slips now, so please let her know directly if you do not receive anything in your child's backpack.
April 6th, The Little Bit Book Fair
Make sure you bring your child to school on time on April 6th so they can participate in The Little Bit Book Fair, where they will be able to choose brand new books for free to take home permanently. It is important that all children have a home library to read independently and with their family members, and this is a wonderful resource provided by community partner The Little Bit Foundation!
April 12th, Grant's Farm Field Trip for Kindergarten-5th Grade
Make sure your child arrives to school on time on April 12th so they can enjoy a free field trip to Grant's Farm! Students will be able to interact with over 900 animals who live on Grant's Farm and learn how to care for both land and creatures!
April 17th, MAP Testing Begins for 3rd-5th Graders
Our statewide assessment, the MAP test will begin on Monday, April 17th. Students in 3rd-5th grade will take multiple tests in Reading, Writing, Math, and Science, and will get to show what they know. It is extremely important for our students to get a full night's rest the day before a test, a healthy breakfast, and relaxation time when they get home from school that day. Encourage your child to do their very best on the state test!
April 29th, Patrick Henry Resource Fair
This event will take place on Saturday, April 29th, behind Patrick Henry in our backyard driveway. Our community partners from Delta Sigma Theta Alumni Chapter of St. Louis will bring their cars full of supplies for our families to gather resources and enjoy a fun morning at Patrick Henry. All families are invited to join and take resources for their family! More details will be sent out closer to the event.
May 1st - 5th, Educator Appreciation Week
Help celebrate your teachers for Educator Appreciation Week the first week of May! Families can send a thank you card to let your child's teachers know how much you appreciate what they do during the school day and beyond. If you need ideas on how to celebrate the staff of Patrick Henry, email Dr. Rogers at deborah.rogers@slps.org.
