This Week
- Good conversations are beginning about making sure our children learn to swim & all ages enjoy swimming as exercise.
- The Community Center is undergoing an energy audit, looking for opportunities to economize. Lights were recently replaced with LED. Looking at water usage & for opportunities to save.
- Emergency sewer main repair proposed for Tracy/Rowell area. Work should begin as soon as materials are available.
- Four visitors from the Japan Productivity Center in Tokoyo visited last week to learn how to start a Community of Excellence Project in Japanese communities. We were honored for the visit & it was beneficial to review our journey.
- Attended a conference in San Diego recently, & enjoyed meeting community representatives from Saratoga Springs, NY, a community that has very similar foundation with mineral waters & spas.
- October is Code Enforcement Month & the top 10 Code Enforcement issues are overgrown lots, trash containers left on the curb on days other than collection day, outdoor placement of household items such as upholstered furniture & applicances, peeling paint allowing buildings to decay, abandoned, inoperative cars, front yard parking, not in a driveway, house in extreme disrepair, premise identification, residential rental conditions, & right-of-way management.
- October is also Fire Prevention Month - The primary goal of fire safety efforts is to protect building occupants from injury & to prevent loss of life. The secondary goal of fire safety is to prevent property damage. By preventing fires and limiting damage we can assure that work operations will continue. The last few months have been unusally dry & we have experienced more fires than usual.
