Hello St. Eugene families,

Here we are at the end of the school year. Your children have grown so much this year, physically, academically, and spiritually. We are looking forward to a full last week of school!

Our 8th grade class will be graduating this evening and marking the occasion with a traditional graduation celebration and mass. This 8th grade class has been such a joy to know over the past six years. They each embody qualities that exude love of Christ and love of others. Their families have also been such a wonderful group of people to know and partner with at CSSE.

Remember to wear red to mass this weekend for Pentecost!

It's that time of year when Time & Talent hours need to be completed and reported in FACTs. If you find that you are short a few hours, we will need help with Field Day on the 22nd. Teachers and staff have also added items to this task list. If there is something you would like to help with on the task list, please enter your name and email, then contact the staff member listed for task details.

If you ordered a yearbook for your student, your charge was added to your FACTS account this past week unless you already turned in cash or check. Yearbooks will go to classroom teachers this coming week, and will be distributed prior to the yearbook signing on Thursday. There are a very limited number of extra books, and it will be first come, first served with $25 payment in hand. To purchase one of the extra books, students should bring money to Mrs. Hattaway. Students who do not purchase a yearbook will be offered a signature page for gathering signatures during our yearbook signing on Thursday.

We have decommissioned some of our oldest student Chromebooks and are offering them for sale. They are being sold as is, no tech support. The models for sale are Dell Chromebooks 11 - 3180 from 2018. These models no longer receive updates, and while they function, there is evident wear and tear. May have keys that stick a little and decreased battery life. May function better with a USB or Blueooth mouse. Will come with a charger. Still good for basic internet browsing and accessing Google Drive. You may reserve one for $25 cash or check to CSSE. At CSSE, our goal is to create balanced and successful communities of learners. Our classroom teachers and administration carefully work as a team to prepare class lists for the next school year using certain criteria. A well-balanced class allows the students and teachers to perform at their best. While most students can be successful in any classroom, parents wishing to provide additional input for next year regarding their current PreK-5th student may fill out the linked information form and return it to the office by May 23, 2024 through the mail, or email to principal@steugeneschool.org with subject “Placement Input.” Please note that specific teacher requests are not accepted. This is NOT required for all students.

We Need YOU! Consider volunteering as a PTO officer or committee member for the 2024-25 school year. Many of the open positions can be done without a huge commitment, but will help you cover many Time & Talent hours.

The purpose of PTO is to enhance and support the educational experience at St. Eugene, to develop a closer connection between school and home by encouraging parental involvement, and to improve the environment at St. Eugene through volunteer and financial support.

The mission of the PTO is to serve as a vehicle by which parents and guardians, teachers and staff, pastor(s) and principal are able to collaborate with one another, thereby developing a faith community through which the children of St. Eugene can grow in their Christian formation.

Registration for fall volleyball is now open! Boys and Girls in grades 4th through 8th are invited to play. Sign up by August 9, 2024.

Our CSSE Athletics Commission is seeking a volunteer to serve as Track Coordinator next school year. Track Coordinator will help prepare students for the CGSAA Track Meet. For more information, contact athletics@steugeneschool.org.

At the Mount St. Mary Underclassmen awards, #cssealumna Alaina Schoppa received the Sister Mary Hortense English Scholarship. Fellow #cssealumna Chloe Scott received the Freshman Visual Arts Award. Congratulations, ladies!

The school office will close at 1pm on Thursday, May 23rd and remain closed until May 28. The office will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9am-1pm beginning May 28. The school office will be closed June 28 through July 15. Normal office hours will resume the week of August 5th.

Save the Date for Hike & Mass! Due to weather, we rescheduled our much anticipated hike to the end of the school year and a great way to start the summer-- Saturday, May 25th! Please sign up to attend!
