Remembering Mary Patricia Keith Bradley
"Mary Patricia Keith Bradley, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 91. She was born July 1, 1928, in Fort Worth, Texas to Henry L. Keith and Helen (O’Gorman) Keith.
After attending Mount Carmel Academy and Our Lady of Victory, Patricia received her bachelor’s degree in music from TCU. Patricia was a teacher, pianist, church organist and homemaker. October 20, 1951, she married Francis Bernard Bradley at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Fort Worth, Texas. They raised three children. Their daughter, Helen Anne, was born in 1954. In 1961, through Catholic Charities, they adopted their two sons, Michael and Kevin, from Munich, Germany. An accomplished pianist, Patricia then learned to play the organ from James J. Marsh at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Patricia shared her talents for decades playing at the cathedral and later at St. John the Apostle Parish. She was also a talented seamstress, taught herself to knit, a great cook and an avid gardener. When her husband, Bernie, retired from General Dynamics, the couple built an earth-sheltered house in Haslet as their retirement home. The epitome of a lady in every sense, all who knew her described her as the sweetest person you could ever hope to meet.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Henry, her mother, Helen Marie, her sister, Helen Louise Keith, husband Francis Bernard Bradley, and son Michael Edward Bradley.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Anne Bradley, son, Kevin Keith Bradley, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and cousins."

Welcome to The Board!
Marco Molinar has volunteered to be on the Board for the Garden Ministry. Marco is working with Mike on a plan for better use of our gardening space, preventing erosion, and increasing crop production.
Plans include use of cover crops, soil solarization, contouring to better control weeds and kill dormant bug infestations. Implementation will begin in August.

Bad Bugs on the prowl
"Bad bugs have moved to fresher food! Cucumber beetle eggs were found Tuesday morning on the yellow squash planted east of the gardener's boxes. Please squish any of these eggs.
These are cucumber beetle eggs (pictured). They have been removed from John's squash plants. Would appreciate if members would be diligent in checking our squash plants, cucumbers, and John's plot for the bug and removing the eggs to control the spread." -Mary B.
Mud Daubers
Per Texas A&M Agrilife Extension field guide to common TX insects:
https://texasinsects.tamu.edu/mud-daubers/
Common name: Mud daubers
Scientific name: Chalybion, Sceliphron
Mud daubers and potter or mason wasps are solitary wasps species; although capable of stinging, they are rarely aggressive. Mud daubers nests can be a nuisance in garages, under eaves and in other buildings. They are considered extremely beneficial predator insects. Although the black widow spider is the preferred food, the dauber also dines on flies, crickets and leaf hoppers, with some flower nectar and pollen for desert.
Adults are 3/4 to 1-inch long wasps, varying in color by species from dull black to bright yellow markings to iridescent blue-black. Their nests are constructed and provisioned by individual mated females. Eggs of mud daubers are laid singly on hosts in cells in mud nests provisioned with food, sealed and abandoned. They rarely sting only when handled.
