April 3, 2025
This week, we would like to spotlight one of our exceptional kindergarten students, Raela Porter. Raela was recently honored with an award from the National Association of School Resource Officers for her quick thinking and bravery during a medical emergency at school.
When an emergency situation arose, Raela immediately notified her teacher, which helped first responders quickly assist and address the situation. Raela’s actions are a shining example of courage, perseverance, and responsibility, especially in a challenging moment.
At PCK, we emphasize these qualities in our students, and Raela demonstrated them perfectly when she stepped up to help in an emergency. We are so proud of Raela and grateful for the positive example she sets for all of us.
With the warmer weather upon us, we are thrilled to share that our students have been able to enjoy our playground area daily. It's wonderful to see them making the most of this space, and we would like to take a moment to highlight and express our sincere gratitude to two families whose generosity has had a significant impact on our school community.
A special thank you goes to the Erhuy and Santana-Roman families for their thoughtful donations of the two slides that completed our playground.
As we approach our upcoming Gala, we want to take this opportunity to showcase the profound difference that donations and fundraising efforts make at PCK. Every contribution directly impacts the educational experience of our students, both in and out of the classroom.
Once again, thank you to the Erhuy and Santana-Roman families for their contributions and their dedication to improving our school for all of our children. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
Recently, our eighth grade class had the opportunity to celebrate their outstanding achievements in last year’s CMAS scores with a fun and well-deserved trip to Sky Zone.
Thanks to their hard work and dedication, our eighth graders achieved the highest scores across the Douglas County School District in both Math and English Language Arts. This remarkable accomplishment is just one of many examples of how PCK students consistently reach new heights and excel academically.
The upcoming state-mandated testing, Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS), will take place throughout the month of April for students in grades third through eighth.
Please take note of the testing schedule for each grade level:
Third, Fourth Fifth, and Eighth Grades: These grades will test during both CMAS testing weeks—April 8-10 and April 15-17.
Seventh Grade: Seventh grade will test on April 8-10, as well as in the afternoon of April 15.
Sixth Grade: Sixth grade will test only from April 8-10, in the mornings until midday.
You can access the complete testing schedule below.
Our upcoming Boys Volleyball Camp for students in grades K-5, is right around the corner on Thursday, April 10, from 3:15 to 4:35 p.m. Registration for the camp will remain open until Tuesday, April 8 at 4:00 p.m.
This camp will offer an inside look at how our volleyball team operates, including practice routines, and will feature fun games to help campers learn the fundamentals of the sport.
Please be advised that Homework Club will be canceled for the weeks of April 7 and April 14 due to conflicts with CMAS testing.
Chess Club is back at PCK for the remainder of the school year. Beginning on April 7, the club will meet every Monday that school is in session from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. in the Science Lab.
The Chess Club is open to all students in grades kindergarten through fifth, and we encourage everyone, whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, to join in the fun and challenge of chess. To register your student, simply click the button below and choose the Parker Core Knowledge location.

Friendly Reminder: The Election Process for New Board Members is Open!
At PCK, our Board of Directors serves as the guiding force behind our policies and principles. Comprised of dedicated parents like you, they are responsible for the governance of the school, the development of positive community relations, and the preservation of PCK’s mission and vision.
Hopefully a source of inspiration and motivation, Jessica Berry shared a brief statement about her time on the board:
After spending six years on the PCK Board of Directors, I can say firsthand that it’s an incredibly rewarding way to give back to the school. Serving on the board has allowed me to connect with our school leaders, gain a deeper understanding of the daily operations, and play a role in shaping the educational experience for our students. It’s a unique opportunity to be involved in the decision-making process and contribute to the growth and development of PCK. I encourage all parents to consider joining the board and making a lasting impact on our school community. Your voice and perspective truly matter! Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, my email is jessicaberry1223@gmail.com.
If you're ready to make a difference and contribute to PCK's journey, please submit the following:
1. Letter of Interest, please include:

This week, we would like to shine our Volunteer Spotlight on all of our amazing families who generously stepped up to donate snacks for our upcoming CMAS testing. Your support plays an essential role in creating a positive and supportive environment for our students during this important time.
Your contributions not only help keep our students energized, but they also highlight the strength of our wonderful community. It’s through acts like these that we can come together and ensure that our students feel encouraged and cared for as they prepare for their tests.
Thank you to each and every one of you for making a difference. Your kindness and dedication are what make our school community so special.
