Principal's Message
"We are a joyful community that is inclusive and guides children toward curiosity, resilience, and compassion."
Dear Families,
The visit from the bear on Tuesday initially seemed like the highlight of the week, but our Fine Arts’ Night ended up stealing the title of the "most amazing event of the year!" Jen Campbell did an outstanding job showcasing student artwork, making this year's art show a fantastic success once again. Students felt incredibly proud to see their creativity exhibited throughout the school. The puppet show left us all in awe and we feel very proud of our students. A big thank you to our PTNO for their invaluable support. On behalf of the entire Rumney staff, I want to thank Jen Campbell and Matt Pelkey for their hard work in ensuring the success of the residency. Special thanks to Barb and Dan from “No Strings Marionette” for sharing your talents with us.
We have many staff members leaving Rumney at the end of this year, and I want to make sure families are aware so they can say their goodbyes. Each staff member will be recognized and celebrated by myself and the Rumney staff. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

The Rumney School Garden
We have new garden beds arriving soon! Teachers requested support from volunteers to keep the garden beds watered through the summer. (No one has requested any weeding, but I imagine it would be appreciated as well). We will have a hose hooked up for ease of watering, as well as a sign to make notes of any attention our garden received. We hope this makes it possible for a quick pop-in when you’re available. Teachers mentioned it would be great if families could stop over when they attend the concerts on the green on Wednesdays in the summer. Feel free to check on our garden and harvest anything that is ready to be picked. This invitation includes Fall harvests as well! We want our produce to be enjoyed by our school community.

Girls On The Run
This year's Girl's on the Run program just wrapped up its season with a celebratory 5K in Essex. Throughout the season our 21 participants from Doty and Rumney took on running challenges, played games, and made connections with new friends. We worked on building confidence, and everyone believing in themself, while also being a supporter to those around them. Our team also volunteered at the Corporate Cup and the Race Against Racism! I am very proud of this team and the heart they put into the season.
