The Prowler
Week of March 17-21, 2025
From Mr. Moreno's Desk:
Teachers, Staff, Parents, and Students,
The RHMS Campus Administration strongly encourages all teachers, staff, and students to take full advantage of this well-earned break to rest, recharge, and refresh. It’s important to take this time to relax and rejuvenate so that we can all return with renewed energy and focus as we head into the final stretch of the school year.
Looking ahead, our primary focus will shift toward preparing our students for the upcoming STAAR assessments. The weeks following break will be crucial, and we are committed to ensuring that every student is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to succeed on these important state exams. We will work together to provide the necessary support, resources, and encouragement for each student to perform at their best.
Please note that after Spring Break, Monday, March 17th, will be a Teacher Inservice day, meaning there will be no classes for students on that day. Students will return to school on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, ready to continue their learning and make meaningful progress as we head into the final part of the year. Let’s work together to make these last few weeks count. We’re excited to finish the year strong and support our students as they achieve their goals!
We want to take this opportunity to continue emphasizing the importance of consistent daily attendance for all students. Regular attendance plays a critical role in ensuring student success, both academically and personally. It is essential that students are present each day to fully engage with the lessons and experiences that will help them thrive.
As part of our commitment to excellence, we are aiming to maintain a school-wide attendance rate of at least 96% for the remainder of the year. Achieving this goal will require the continued support and collaboration of our entire school community. We are incredibly grateful for the efforts parents are making to ensure their children attend school regularly. Your involvement and dedication are truly appreciated and make a significant difference in our collective success.
Together, we can provide our students with the best possible opportunities for growth and achievement. Thank you for being a vital part of this important effort—your continued support is key to helping our students reach their full potential.

Student Leadership Parent Meeting
Communities In Schools hosted an informative session for parents called "How to Develop Resilience in Kids," aimed at equipping them with essential tools to foster emotional strength in their children. During the session, parents were introduced to the fundamental components of resilience, including Emotion Regulation, Self-Efficacy and Confidence, Growth Mindset, and Healthy Relationships. These pillars are crucial in helping children navigate challenges and thrive in the face of adversity. In addition to understanding these key concepts, parents were given practical, actionable strategies that they can implement at home to support and nurture their children's resilience on a daily basis. This session empowered parents with both the knowledge and resources to cultivate an environment that promotes emotional growth and perseverance in their children.

Student Leadership Group Working on Team Building
This week, our 7th grade RHMS Student Mentors had the opportunity to meet with their mentees for an engaging team-building exercise. The students were tasked with working together in small groups to complete a challenge: constructing the tallest tower they could, using only paper and Scotch tape. With 20 minutes on the clock, the teams quickly jumped into brainstorming sessions, sharing ideas and collaborating to come up with the most effective design. Throughout the activity, students demonstrated strong leadership skills, taking on various roles within their teams to ensure the tower’s success. At the end of the challenge, the team with the tallest tower was awarded gift cards as a reward for their creativity and teamwork. This exercise provided a fun and constructive way for students to strengthen their collaboration and problem-solving abilities while fostering a sense of camaraderie.

“There’s nothing to lose by giving a student a second chance. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. There’s only the possibility of strengthening a relationship, demonstrating the power of empathy, and instilling a glimmer of hopeful recovery.” @teacher2teacher
“Never forget the past, where you came from, or how difficult it was at times to be a student. Oftentimes, this is our best teacher and our best reminder that children, just like educators, do not deserve to be held hostage with a label. Believe they can!” @casas_jimmy
