Leasure Bears Den Parent Newsletter
Week of February 10th, 2025
Message from Principal Getugi
Dear Leasure Families,
February has been an exciting and meaningful month at Leasure! We started the month by recognizing National Cancer Prevention Month and Black History Month, engaging students in activities that promote awareness, resilience, and cultural contributions.
On February 4th, we observed World Cancer Day, with students and staff wearing lavender or purple to honor those affected by cancer. On February 7th, our PBS Super Bowl Event brought school spirit and teamwork as students learned football skills and cheers from Glasgow High School’s football players and cheerleaders, embracing our One Christina, One Team spirit.
February 10th was dedicated to Parent-Teacher Conferences, providing an opportunity for valuable discussions about student progress. On February 13th, our PTA-sponsored Spaghetti Bowl & Bingo Night brought families together for an evening of fun, food, and community bonding. Finally, on February 14th, we celebrated Valentine’s Day and Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day, with students and staff wearing red to spread love and awareness.
A special thank you to our families for supporting the 2025 Spread the Word – Inclusion Campaign by purchasing t-shirts and helping to promote this important initiative. Your participation helps reinforce the values of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion within our school community.
Thank you for your continued support in making these events meaningful for our students! We appreciate all that you do to make Leasure a special place to learn and grow.
Partnering for Student Success – i-Ready Lessons at Home
We need your partnership in ensuring that students set aside time each week at home to complete their i-Ready lessons.
Students recently completed the Mid-Year (MOY) i-Ready assessments in reading and math. These results that were also sent home have helped teachers identify each student’s areas of need and provide the necessary support to help them continue growing academically.
Based on their assessment results, students have been assigned personalized i-Ready lessons designed to help them improve proficiency, strengthen essential skills, and progress toward grade-level and above in both subjects.
To maximize student growth, we ask for your support in encouraging your child to complete their i-Ready lessons at home. These lessons reinforce what they learn in the classroom and provide additional practice to help them succeed.
Your partnership is essential in helping students reach their full potential. Thank you for your support!

Superintendent Search - Survey due February 24, 2025
The Christina School District has kicked off the search for a new Superintendent! To ensure a thorough and successful search, we’ve partnered with Ray & Associates, Inc., a firm specializing in school executive leadership searches.
As part of our commitment to family, staff, and community engagement, the Christina School District wants your input in the search for a new Superintendent. The search for a Superintendent is not only one of the most important responsibilities of the Board of Education; it is also a major investment for the students, families, staff, and the entire community of the Christina School District.
Meetings with our various stakeholder groups are expected to be scheduled later this month. More information on these meetings will be posted on our website and social channels as details become available.
In the meantime, our community is invited to complete a 31 Qualities Survey. Information obtained from the survey will be used to develop the profile for our new Superintendent. Please complete the survey by 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025. The links to the survey can be found here:
Community survey:
The Board deeply values the feedback from those we serve and listening to our district and community is incredibly important. The survey results and public meetings will help shape the search for our district’s next leader and we look forward to engaging with our district’s stakeholders in a meaningful way.
