Graduation Location Survey - Class of 2025!
It is hard to believe but it is time to begin thinking about graduation for the class of 2025. Graduation is a special time to celebrate, and we would like to get feedback from the Class of 2025 and their families about preferences in graduation venue. The information collected is one source used to make a decision about location. While we do not have an assigned date for graduation, the range of dates for ceremonies is between Tuesday, May 27, 2025 through Thursday, June 12, 2025
Based upon the anticipated size of our graduating class, our indoor venue options are Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena at UMBC or D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Our graduation venue options are:
- University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena - This air-conditioned venue is approximately 38 miles from our school, and has ample free parking. Wootton HS and the PTSA has an option of renting buses to assist with transporting students and families (bus ticket cost applies). The venue fee for a graduation ceremony at UMBC, Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena is approximately $19,968.
- D.A.R. Constitution Hall, Washington, D.C. – This air-conditioned venue is approximately 18 miles from our school, is accessible via the metro, and parking is available at nearby garages. Wootton HS and the PTSA has an option of renting buses to assist with transporting students and families (bus ticket cost applies). The venue fee for a graduation ceremony at D.A.R. Constitution Hall is approximately $10,430.
This survey is to be completed by the 12th grade students (1 response) and their caregiver/parent (1 response). Please do not reply if you/your student are not a Wootton Class of 2025 student or caregiver. The form will remain open until September 25, 2024.
Congratulations to Wootton's National Merit Semifinalists

Fall MAP Testing
Wootton will be administering the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment to serve as our fall diagnostic for students. The diagnostic assessment is designed to provide teachers, students and parents with an accurate assessment of what a child knows and needs to learn. All students in grade 9 English will take the MAP Growth Reading (MAP-R). All ninth-grade students in Algebra 1 will take the MAP-M test.
Wootton has selected the following dates and times for test administration:
- The MAP-R test will be administered on Monday September 30th and Tuesday October 1st in students’ English classes.
- The MAP-M test will be administered on Wednesday September 18th and Thursday September 19th for 9th grade students who are in Algebra I.
- Makeup exams for both MAP-R and MAP-M will be held on October 2nd and 3rd.
Here are some resources to help you navigate the test and its components: You can learn About the Test, Take the Practice Test (Username: grow Password: grow) and get more of an overview of the test with this resource from the NWEA website, the creator of the MAP assessment.
As a reminder, your child will need to bring their Chromebook to access the test and should have their charger with them as well.
Any questions or concerns about MAP testing can be directed to Gillian Ratti, ASA (Gillian_G_Ratti@mcpsmd.org).

Attendance Is Important!
Regular daily attendance is expected. It is critical to a child's academic success. Parent/caregiver support of regular daily attendance is essential. Parents/caregivers should provide a note within 3 days stating the reason for absence. This will ensure the absence is marked excused. Students who were absent from school have the responsibility to request make-up work from their teacher.
