Hello CJSH students and families!
Can you believe we’ve reached the final week before winter break? I hope you're all gearing up for a wonderful holiday season!
Thank you so much for your support as we keep our standards high and focus on learning during these last days of school. Please encourage your students to give their best each day—we're right here cheering them on in their educational journey!
I hope you had a chance to explore the updates about High-Quality Grading and Reporting that we've shared in recent weeks. It's important to us that our families are informed about how we communicate your student's learning through the Skyward gradebook. If you have any questions or if you're curious to learn more about grading and reporting, don’t hesitate to reach out to the office. Our awesome grading and reporting team is ready and eager to help!
Thanks again for your ongoing support. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the office. Wishing you all a fantastic week and a truly amazing holiday season!
Mrs. Stewart
From the Athletic Director
Hello Clinton Community School District Families,
We had an exciting week at CJSH. The boys Basketball team split the week with a loss on Monday evening at Marshall, but were able to get a win on Thursday over Brodhead. The girls basketball team took two tough losses over the week, but they played two tough teams in Turner and Evansville. The girls continue to get better each and every week. The wrestling team had a great showing at their tournament over the weekend.
Important Announcement: New streaming coming in the Winter. Beginning in the winter seasons, we will no longer be streaming on YOUTUBE TV. The new live stream for games will be on the following website:

From the Behavior Support Specialist
Cougar Family,
Just a couple of quick reminders for our students as we enter the final week before our holiday break.
Please ensure your cell phone is either put in your yonder pouch or in your locker for the day. We have been seeing too many phones throughout the school day and have noticed it is becoming an increasing issue.
Also, as we progress through the remainder of the school year, please be mindful of what you are doing on your assigned Chromebook. Please be aware of what you are looking up/searching, as well as what you are sending in your email. Administration gets notifications for many different keywords and searches. Don't be surprised if you are approached by Mrs. Stewart, Mr. Korth, or myself regarding your use of your Chromebook.
Lastly, I want to wish you all a very restful and relaxing holiday break. I look forward to seeing you all after the new year.

Mr. Hernandez woods class doing what they do best!
From Mrs. Shoemaker
Entrepreneurism Students conducted Market Research to help promote our SMART Brews in the Cougar Cave. In accordance with Federal Guidelines, our School Based Enterprise must sell SMART Snack compliant products in the Cougar Cave. Many students do not purchase our coffee drinks because they think the decaf/low sugar drinks will taste bad. Students voluntarily participated in a blind taste test to see if they could tell which product was decaffeinated and which product tasted better. 60% of participants said the decaffeinated coffee was caffeinated and preferred the taste. This was a great opportunity to show students that healthier versions of their favorite drinks actually taste good, or better! It was a great way to connect with our Target Market and show them a healthier option.
From Mrs. Paynter
Seniors in Mrs. Sullivan's technical writing class stepped out of the classroom and into the real world of industry and toured the Frito Lay manufacturing plant in Beloit.
Students experienced many things, including:
- Manufacturing processes of how raw ingredients are transformed into delicious chips and snacks we all know and love.
- Crucial safety procedures implemented at Frito Lay and how clear, concise writing plays a vital role in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Real world application of equipment manuals, safety protocols, quality control documentation, and marketing materials.
- Career exploration and insight from Frito Lay employees into potential career paths in maintenance, quality assurance, engineering, manufacturing, business, sales, and more.
- And of course, sampling some freshly made snacks!
Thank you to Frito Lay in Beloit for hosting us and showing our students the importance of clear, precise communication in the workplace!
Skills USA
Skills USA competed at its district contest yesterday. All the contestants were engaged in a variety of activities from photography, team engineering, advertising, related technical math, and welding. There were over 350 contestants and 28 categories at the Watertown District 4 competition. Our middle school team won 2nd place in the team engineering challenge category. Congratulations to Carson Church, Ryan Barbarick, Ari Delapaz, and all other members of Clinton SkillsUSA for competing.
Small Gas Engine Class
Small gas engine classes have been working for the past few weeks combining all their skills learned to complete team go karts.
