A Look Into Our Panther Community
Thank you to our guests that were here today to honor our Memorial Day Observance. We are grateful for all who have and continue to serve. We hope all our families have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Congratulations to the winners of this year's Patriot's Pen Essay contest. Patriot’s Pen is a nationwide, VFW-sponsored youth essay competition that gives students an opportunity to compose essays expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme. More than 120,000 students participate in this contest each year. East Hampton Middle School students enter the contest through their ELA classes in early November. We were honored to have Judy Barnes, of the East Hampton VFW Post 5095 Auxiliary to present our winners - 3rd place - Alivia Peterson, 2nd place - Kaeden M. Owen, and 1st place - Ariana Blancato!
A special thank you to State Representative, Irene Haines, who was able to be here to celebrate with us and say a few words about Memorial Day.
Capstone Convention was a successful evening. Our students have worked hard this year on their projects that highlight their passions and interests. Each year, we are so impressed with our students. Below are just a few of the projects from Tuesday night. We look forward to sharing more photos over the next few weeks.
On Monday night, the annual Scholar Leader banquet was held at the Aqua Turf club. Two 8th graders, Sean Hargreaves and Emily Rawlinson, were honored as our recipients. Emily and Sean were selected by their teachers for distinguishing themselves in scholarship and leadership.
French C students cooked a full 5 course meal including beverages in the Health room this week. Students made amuse-bouche (sorbet), Gougères (entrée/appetizer), Salade des tomates (Tomato salad), Poulet français avec frites et petits-pois (French chicken with fries and peas) et des éclairs pour le dessert. They commented on how it was the most fun they had all year and how delicious the food was. It was impressive seeing some young chefs come to life in the kitchen. Madame Michalak would like to thank families for helping at home with items from your kitchen or ust the general support of the classroom and your children this entire year. We did a lot of activities and each time parents were willing to lend a hand or send in donations! Merci à tous- thank you to all!
This week, the Cafeteria Team made fresh Berry Smoothies for Middle Schoolers featuring local Hastings Farm Greek yogurt from Suffield! We hope to feature these once more before the end of the school year.

Important Attendance Reminder
A phone call does not excuse an absence..
A phone call is appreciated, but only an email to our attendance inbox or written note can officially excuse absence 1 through 9. Below is our attendance email:
Note: Between the school name and the word Attendance is a underscore ( _ )
EHMS_Attendance@easthamptonct.org
If a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.

School Based Health
Happy New Year! Did you resolve to be more on top of your and your child’s health this year? Here’s an easy solution: Sign your child up for School-Based Health Care. Your child’s school works with Community Health Center, Inc.’s School-Based Health Care program to provide health services to your child during the school day. This means they won’t miss as much class and you don’t need to miss work to support their health care needs. Learn more about the services offered at your child’s school and enroll today at SBHC1.com!
