MES Soaring to Success
Principal weekly update

Good afternoon!
Last Wednesday we celebrated National Science Day! Mrs. Strell was our own personal Albert Einstein and gave classes a guided tour in learning some fun science facts. Classes also competed in a science trivia game throughout the day with the winning class earning an ice cream party! Congratulations to Mr. Zeno's class!
This week we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss all week with many fun events planned!!

Quick run down on events -
Monday - dress like a Dr. Seuss character or wear Black, Red & White
Tuesday - Hat day
Wednesday - wear your wacky clothing
Thursday - theme day - check with classroom teacher for your classroom theme
Friday- wear your MES spirit shirt
Opportunity for your child to design a theme of kindness for Ben's Bells and could possibly be chosen as this year's winner to have it made into a mosaic design. See the linked flyer
On March 20, Mr. Murphy will be holding an informational session regarding next year's proposed budget at 6:00 here in Flanders Room. The PTO will also be sponsoring a buddy breakfast on May 7th so you can grab a quick bite to eat.

**Special note to our 5th grade parents please see the attached flyer for our first 5th grade activity scheduled in March. It will be a bowling night with BES 5th graders at Thomaston Lanes on Monday March 18th. Bowling Flyer

School hours are MTThF 8:25 am – 3:15 pm, doors open at 8:15 am. Our hours on Wednesday are 8:25 am - 2:35 pm

Breakfast is served at school at 8:15 am for those who wish to eat breakfast at school. Breakfast is free for all students. Lunch will be free for those who qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Applications for free and reduced breakfast and lunch are found on the website and here: Application
Ice cream and snacks are now available to Grades K, 3, 5 on Tuesdays and Grades 1, 2, 4 on Thursdays. Please practice your child's PIN number with them!
Classroom Celebration sheets must be turned in 2 weeks before the celebration. Click Celebration sheet to complete the form then return the form and payment 2 weeks before the event.
Updates and News
Save the Dates! Join us for Superintendent Murphy’s presentation of the proposed school budget on Wednesday, March 20 at 6 PM in the Flanders Room. Then mark your calendars for our Bestie Breakfast on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:30 AM at MES before heading off to vote on the School Budget Referendum (voting open 6AM - 8PM at Woodbury Community/Senior Center)!
Thank you for a very successful book fair! Thank you to Shelly Sweatt for her outstanding effort in putting it all together! The PTO was able to purchase $900 of books for teacher wish lists!!
Look for us at the Earth day celebration April 20th at Hollow Park! We will have a joint booth with BES PTO.

Fifth Grade Bowling Night! The BES & MES 5th graders and their parents are invited to Meet & Mingle before they are all together at middle school next year! Monday, March 18, sign up for this fun night here!
