PORTRAIT OF A GRADUATE
As you read about the great things happening at GMS, please keep in mind that everything we do on a daily basis coincides with our ultimate goals outlined in our Portrait of a Goshen Graduate.
ACADEMICALLY PREPARED
Students in Mrs. DeNu's Career Tech class used the engineering design process to create a hydraulic claw. Students were challenged to choose a design, build it, use water hydraulics to create movement, and then refine it until they could successfully pick something up.
SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE
Student Council - "Countdown to Summer"
The Student Council has come up with a fun way for our students to countdown to summer! Each day there will be a new theme to participate in. See the calendar for each day!
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATORS
FEARLESS LEARNERS
RESILIENT LEARNERS
Students that demonstrate resiliency during testing will be rewarded for their efforts. Expectations have been communicated with students. The 6th graders will be going to Scene 75, 7th grade to Castle Skateland, and 8th grade to the Zoo. These will be exciting opportunities for students to enjoy and celebrate their hard work.
Warrior Way Postcards
We are so excited to announce that over 1,450 positive postcards have been sent home celebrating our students for demonstrating a growth mindset, motivation and social responsibility. Every time a student is awarded a letter, they receive a postcard from their teacher, bring it to the office and turn it in. In exchange, students receive a sticker to put on their computer case. Be on the lookout for a postcard in your mailbox soon!
Dodgeball Tournament
Our last fundraiser of the year will be the Dodgeball Tournament! Students can form teams of 10 and compete in the school-wide competition. The cost is $1 to play or $1 to watch. If you student is interested in forming a team, please have them see Mrs. Velagic! The event takes place on May 9!
Student vs. Staff Basketball Game
Get ready for an exciting basketball game that's not to be missed! On May 23, 2024, our middle school students will be facing off against the school staff in a thrilling basketball showdown. Admission is $1 to watch or play. Proceeds will benefit our school! It's a win-win - enjoy an action-packed game and contribute to a worthy cause at the same time. Mark your calendars and come join us for an afternoon of hoops, fun, and giving back to the community. Don't miss out!
PICNIC WITH MY PEEPS
GMS is hosting a Picnic With My Peeps event where families can join their middle school student for lunch outside. The event will be held on different days for each grade, with 6th grade on May 20, 8th grade on May 22, and 7th grade on May 24.
Families can bring their own lunch or order from the cafeteria. More information about the event will be provided soon. It sounds like a great opportunity for families to spend time together and enjoy some outdoor activities.
