From Hamilton To Home
April 2025
PRINCIPAL PUTT'S POST
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope you enjoy this month's edition of From Hamilton to Home. As we gradually near the end of the year, there are many events that will be occurring for your child at school and opportunities for parents and families to engage as well. You will find information on many of these events in this months edition as well as the May edition.
As you know, I have been away from Hamilton for the past several weeks. While my return date is not yet official, I do hope to be back at Hamilton soon. I want to thank Ms. Linda Simon for stepping in and supporting Hamilton in my absence.
I wish you a safe and restful spring break with your families.
Best,
Principal Putt

FROM THE OFFICE
Return to School Updates
We still have some families that have not yet completed this years Return to School Updates. If you have not yet done so, please contact the main office. We have Chromebooks to use, to complete the required forms, and most are able to complete it in a matter of minutes. This can not be completed on a phone so please notify the main office if you need support.
Dismissal Reminders
Hamilton understands there may be changes to a student's dismissal instructions. Any changes in dismissal instructions may be given to a student by calling the office by 2:30pm. Hamilton can not guarantee that messages received after 2:30pm will reach the student in time for dismissal. Please contact the main office at (440) 284-8007.
CLASSROOM TREATS AND PARTIES
We have students who have allergies (some severe) that may develop a reaction, as a result of certain foods being permitted and passed out during special occasions such as birthdays, classroom parties, rewards, etc. This is something the kids love and should be able to enjoy.
However, to keep all students safe, It's imperative that all foods brought from the outside are store bought (not homemade) and have nutrition information on them to check ingredients. If the ingredients aren't available, they may not be distributed.
We have students with all kinds of allergies (peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, dairy, wheat, gluten, etc.). We also have students with medical conditions who can't eat certain foods as well.
Ideally parents should notify the school/teacher at least 24 hours prior to when they bring in treats so that the teacher can check for allergies.
Non-food treats are encouraged, such as stickers, pencils, glow sticks, bracelets and other kid-friendly items.
FOOD SERVICE UPDATE
Our Aramark team is excited to bring you our annual Student View Point Survey; the goal is to collect feedback from students about their overall dining experience. Insights gathered will help us enhance our food service program to better meet the needs of our students.
The survey will run through April 18. It is an electronic survey that can be taken anywhere and requires less than 15 minutes to complete. It can be accessed at Elyria City Schools Student ViewPOINT Survey
The goal is for the parents of elementary students to complete the survey with their children.
- On Monday April 14th We will be doing another Lucky Breakfast Bag day for elementary students. 25-30 randomly selected breakfast bags will have a special prize. Please encourage students to grab a breakfast on this day for a chance to win a prize!
- New Menu Item: We will be offering a brand new menu item to K8 students on 4/28 – the Chicken & Waffle Flatbread sandwich!

HAMILTON POSITIVE BEHAVIORAL INTEVENTIONS AND SUPPORTS (PBIS)
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. This is a statewide initiative to help grow positive behaviors and a positive school climate. Here is an overview of Hamilton's PBIS System. We are proud to announce that Hamilton earned Silver recognition in our PBIS efforts! We also earned Bronze as a district! We want to thank you for your part in building a positive school culture. You are such a big part of the success of a child. We also want to share with you further information on Hamilton's PBIS processes and resources. If you are willing and have the time, we would love your PBIS feedback in the Self-Assessment Survey. If you feel your child needs additional behavior supports, you may fill out this form to Request for Assistance in PBIS. Thank you again for your part in the success of our young pioneers.
Be sure to review the "3 B's" with your child. These are discussed each and every day.
BE RESPECTFUL
BE RESPONSIBLE
BE READY TO LEARN
At Hamilton, we believe in teaching students to be confident young people. Every morning, we start the day by reciting the Hamilton Affirmation which states:
I am SOMEBODY
I and CAPABLE and LOVEABLE
I am TEACHABLE
Therefore, I can LEARN
I will not waste TIME
Because, it is too VALUABLE
And I am too PRECIOUS and BRIGHT
I am SOMEBODY
Please practice the affirmation with your child and review what it means. I am also looking for students who can proudly recite the affirmation during the morning announcements.
