Meet Our New Staff!
Amber Darnell, Interven-tionist
I've been in Douglas County the past eight years and have worked in education for a decade. All my experience in education has been in middle school - first as a language arts teacher and most recently as an iLab teacher (a problem solving class based on Design Thinking). As an Englewood resident, I am super excited to work in my community and already love the small family feel of the district. Everyone seems so connected and supportive!
Rick Lietzau, SPED Teacher
I'm coming to Englewood from Chatfield High School in Jeffco. This is my third year as a teacher. I'm excited for the small town feel and the immense amount of support that I have felt so far this year! I am ready to begin the year, support my students, and hit the ground running.
Mikayla Brown, School Psych
I graduated from the University of Denver with an Educational Specialist degree in Child, Family and School Psychology in June. I am so excited about Englewood's tight knit community, as I am from a small town in Southeast Alaska and strong communication and relationships are extremely important to me. Thank you for welcoming me into the community! I look forward to an exciting year!!
How to Teach on a Block Schedule
Here are a few resources to get you thinking about the shifts needed in our instruction for our Block Schedule this year.
Take time this week and next to learn and practice (which means taking a risk, making mistakes, trying again) your block schedule approach.

Custodial Standards
Our district custodial staff has established uniform procedures for cleaning. While this year is going to be very unique to our past years our custodians hope that standardizing the process across the district will help resolve some anxiety and create a better cleaning program all around. They hope to facilitate a safe and healthy environment for staff and, of course, our students. Click here to review these standards.
