Welcome to the Opportunity Launch Update for APRIL 2024. This is a regular update from your District 11 Opportunities division of Career & Technical Education (CTE), Work-Based Learning (WBL), Concurrent Enrollment (CE) and Future Ready (School Counseling and College and Career Access).
AVIATION PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES: APPLY NOW
The Mitchell High School Aviation pathway is expanding to include four new opportunities, including half-day Career Pathways (transportation provided) Aviation Science; Online Drone FAA Part 107 Licensing; remote Private Pilot Licensing; one semester of Aerolab Intro to Flight program.

DENTAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM: OPEN HOUSE
Interested in becoming a certified Dental Assistant? We are looking for students for the fall and spring cohorts now. Interested students must attend the Open House at All Hands Dental on May 6. Fall and Spring sessions are being determined now. A typical session uses BLOCK SCHEDULING to combine periods 2 blocks and runs for 13+ weeks and includes additional time for clinicals. Students must be able to commit two weekends per month to labs during regular sessions.
PATHWAY SPOTLIGHT: FUTURE EDUCATOR
The D11 FUTURE EDUCATOR PATHWAYS prepare students for real world transition into the Early Childhood profession and into the professional teaching degree programs available at any Colorado college or university. The Hallmark of D11 future educator programs includes college access, student internships in our own elementary schools or professional partner institutions, and the potential to qualify for the two-year free college postsecondary program TREP.

SUMMER ROBOTICS CAMPS SPONSORED BY COUGARS GONE WIRED
The COUGARS GONE WIRED FIRST ROBOTICS team of D11 @ Coronado has long been the region's leader in BIG robotics and has hosted summer robotics camps for years. Join the 2024 CAMP for rising middle and upper middle school grades.
Work-Based Learning is a continuum of activities that occur, in part or in whole, in the workplace, providing the learner with hands-on, real-world experience. Work-Based Learning involves; Site Visits, Recorded Informational Interviews, Work Readiness Training, Job Shadows, Internships, and many Apprenticeships. Students may earn academic credits for work-based learning.

NEW! D11 Capital Program Internship
Calling ALL students interested in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Budgeting, Energy and Sustainability, or Project Managment.
This internship provides exposure to various aspects of planning, design, procurement, construction, budgeting, and even grant writing.
Interns will get a chance to plan, design, and possibly even construct a finished improvement in one of the D11 schools.

Construction Internship: Build The Coyote (Concrete Couch)
Interested in a construction internship? This internship is through Concrete Couch working at Build The Coyote Park. Students will learn how to do concrete forming, pouring, hanging doors & windows, framing, roofing, and etc.
Times are available Thursdays and/or Saturdays from 10am-3pm.
Students can earn 1 high school credit/60 hours, up to 2 credits (120 hours)/semester.

FREE COLLEGE TUITION PROGRAMS
Explore the three ways students can have one or two years of college paid for after meeting graduation requirements. Students can leverage concurrent enrollment, college credit through CTE, CLEP testing, and many more opportunities starting their ninth-grade year. With access to college opportunities greater than ever before students can be ASCENT and TREP qualified while pursuing their personalized education pathway, or they can take part in the D11 Promise and pursue their associates with Pikes Peak State College.
