BJH Bobcat News
May 13 - May 17, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Bobcat Families,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This year’s theme is ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health.’ Being active is important for our mental health, so the aim of this Mental Health Awareness Week is to help people to find moments for movement in their daily routines. There are so many things you can do to support good mental health: from movement, to spending time in nature, getting enough sleep, spending time doing things you love, and, our favorite...kindness! Our BJH School Counselors will be hosting a variety of lunchtime activities the week of May 13 to bring awareness to Mental Health Month. Being kind can improve our own physical and mental health in addition to helping others. See the attached kindness calendar to use at home with your families to reinforce the power of kindness this month!
The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony is on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Please see detailed information below.
- Location: Brea Olinda High School Stadium
- Time: 6:00 p.m.
- Student Check in: 5:30 p.m. sharp at the Brea Olinda High School Varsity Baseball Field. Students may not bring purses, jackets or water bottles to the student check-in area.
- Student Dress: Students need to be appropriately dressed for this special occasion and shoes need to be practical for walking downhill on uneven ground.
- Limited parking for disabled promotion guests is available in the auxiliary parking lot. Parking in this lot is on a first come, first serve basis. After the parking lot is full, it will become a traffic loop for disabled promotion guest drop off only.
- Disabled seating is available on the stadium floor level.
- There is no limited seating and no tickets. Stadium seating is first come, first served.
- Parents will pick students up after promotion on the baseball field. Families are welcome to take pictures on the grass portion of the baseball field after the event. Step and repeats will be available for photo opportunities.
NOTE: Transportation to and from Brea Olinda High School is not provided by the district for this event. Parents/Guardians are responsible for transportation to the high school before and after the ceremony.
Lastly, the month of May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This is a month where we recognize the contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islanders to music, art, academics, etc. Look for an informational video in the weekly newsletter each week.
