MHS Spring Athletic Updates
We're more than halfway through a solid spring season with all of the MHS athletic programs currently poised to qualify for postseason play!
- Boys and Girls Outdoor Track competed in one of the premier meets of the short spring season at The Coaches Invitational. All of the schools in Massachusetts are eligible to compete and this year, 78 teams signed up to show what they have. MHS did very well, winning 15 top 6 medals including 1 gold, two silver and three bronze. We also set 21 personal records and three relay season bests. The Track Team will participate in the Mercury Invitational, Saturday, May 18 at Norton High School.
Track Highlights:
- Our hurdlers put on quite a show. Kai Quinones ran a great race in the 400 hurdles, earning a 2nd place with a PR 1:08.22, almost a full second faster than she's ever run before. That time ranks her #16 in all of Massachusetts thus far this season, #2 in Mass Division 3
- Moses Mann reclaimed the school record with a PR 56.79 clocking, good for 2nd place. Our boys 4x800 of Moses Mann, Malcolm Fran- McKnight, Nolan Shinney and Bobby Beato placed a strong 3rd in 8:39.34. That's the 4th best 4x8 time in Div 3 so far this season.
- Kai Quinones, Lydia Turner, Mia Jilani and Sadie Ruth ran their best time of the season to take 3rd, and #1 in Mass Div 3 so far.
- Zakai Perkins, Ferris Collins, Charlie Heffron and Jacob Daly took home the gold in the 4x100 relay, improving on their season's best time with a 43.59. That ranks them 14th in all of Mass, 2nd in Div 3.
- Varsity Softball enters the second part of the season with a 13-2 overall record and is currently ranked 5 in the MIAA DII standings behind aces MK Maloney and Abby Hunt in addition to a strong offensive lineup.
- Baseball is currently ranked 6th in the MIAA DII standings driven through solid performances on the mound. They are 9-7 this season.
- Boys Lacrosse has had some dominating games and stands at 11-3 and is currently ranked 13th in DII MIAA Power Rankings. The team hosted a great Youth Night with 3rd and 4th Grade teams at Brooks Field. Go (future) 'Cats!

Gap Year Opportunity
This information is share by Mona Miao, the Program Manager of Massachusetts Promise Fellowship, an AmeriCorps program at Northeastern University's Office of Community Service & Civic Engagement.
Each year, Massachusetts Promise Fellowship places AmeriCorps Members (Fellows) at non-profit organizations, city agencies, and schools across Massachusetts to lead out-of-school time programming for youth in grades 6-12 focused on mentoring, academic enrichment, and college and career exploration. Throughout their service year, Fellows also receive training and professional development from MPF, gaining valuable career skills and experience. This is a great opportunity for those looking for a meaningful gap year experience or to jumpstart their career after high school.
The application for the 2024-2025 service year is currently open and we are recruiting for up to 30 service positions in Boston, Framingham, Marlborough, Stoughton and Springfield. Details can be found here.
Junior Class News
Dear Class of 2025,
On May 30, the high school Counseling department will host a field trip to the New England Association of College Admissions Counselors regional college fair at Bridgewater State University.
Buses will leave MHS at 9 am and return to school by the end of second lunch (students will miss periods B, advisory, C and half of D). Students will have one hour at Bridgewater State to meet with representatives from over 100 colleges and universities, listed here.
This trip is free for students, as NEACAC has offered to reimburse MPS for the cost of transportation. However, space is limited. In order to reserve a space on a bus, students must return a signed permission slip to School Counseling by Monday, May 20.
Students must be in good academic standing with teachers in order to attend (passing all classes). They may come to School Counseling starting on May 13th to pick up a permission slip.
Please contact Mrs. Meyer at bmeyer@miltonps.org if you have any questions.
