Student i-Ready Diagnostic Testing for the Middle of Year to Begin This Week!
Over the next two weeks, our Westwood students will begin taking some of their middle-of-year assessments in Grades K-6.
These diagnostic assessments give us a snaphsot of how your student is doing in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math at this time in the year. Our expectation is to see our students making normal or even more accelerated growth in both areas. As a teaching staff, we will then be using these assessment results to help us determine how to best support your child in ELA or Math.
Here's how you can help to support your child as they complete their assessments over the next two weeks:
- Ensure that your student gets enough rest at night (avoid the late-night Fortnite sessions)
- Ensure that your student gets a good breakfast (either at home or here in our cafeteria)
- Encourage your student to do their best work
- Ask them when they get home "Did you give your best effort?"
- Encourage your student to read each questions more than one time
- Encourage your student to check their work
We're excited to see our students' progress here at the middle of the school year, and we appreciate your support at home.

Picking Up and Dropping Off Students
As a safety reminder, when picking up or dropping off your student, please use our drop-off loop (the staff parking lot is not for student drop-off) and pull as far forward as possible when in line with your vehicle. This supports a smooth drop-off and pick-up process.
🚗 Parents should stay in their vehicles and pull up to the student drop-off zone during this time. Please do not leave a vehicle unattended in the drop-off loop at any time. If you need help, wave down a staff member and we will be happy to assist you. Thank you for doing your part to keep our students safe.
Additionally, please be sure that your students have the proper car seats, booster seats, or seatbelts as required by California State Law. Let us know if you need help or resources to keep your student safe. 💺✅
