FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
I hope you have been able to take some time for rest and relaxation during these first two weeks of summer! Here at the school, preparations for the 2020-2021 school year are already in full swing. This includes preparing textbook and supply orders, cleaning and attending to various maintenance tasks at the school, and of course preparing to welcome students back to the building in two months!
Fall Preparedness Team Meeting & Reopening Plan Progress
Our Fall Preparedness Team (FPT) met again this past Tuesday morning via Zoom. We are incredibly blessed to have an outstanding team of teachers and staff dedicating their time, talents, and wisdom to this challenging task.
With insight from the FPT, we are currently constructing the fist draft of our Reopening Plan. A reminder that this plan will be peer reviewed by a team of regional principals and then submitted to the Catholic Schools Office at the Diocese of Providence for further recommendations before publication.
A few notes regarding sharing the plan with families:
- The Reopening Plan will be available on the school website no later than July 31st, as mandated by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
- A brief summary document will also be shared with families.
- Once finalized, the school will hold several virtual hall town meetings to review the plan and answer any questions about reopening procedures.
- In addition, we are currently planning multiple optional Orientation Days for students and families to come to the school and practice various new procedures and protocols.
Part of this planning process includes reviewing the challenges and successes of distance learning this spring. To this end, please take a moment to complete our in-depth distance learning survey if you have not already had an opportunity to do so. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
