Family Update

We are seeing an increase in disruptive behavior in the lunchroom. We have implemented a few cafeteria expectations, we went over some basic lunchroom rules today with students and wanted you to be aware that we are going to be assigning more serious consequences for behavior. Students are expected to raise their hand to move out of their seat for any reason, to keep their voice down (no screaming), and to be respectful to staff. Students are also expected to stay in the cafeteria hallway when they have a pass to use the bathroom or go to their lockers, and return within 4 minutes. We will warn students twice, and the third time we tell them to change this behavior we will give them an after school detention. You will be notified that they will need to serve that detention, usually for the following school day. Please speak with your student about following the expectations while in the cafeteria.

Please make sure your students have proper clothing for cold weather days. If your student is in need of a coat, hat or gloves have them to stop in the office.

Students have been asked to remove their headphones while transitioning in the hallways. Students are permitted to keep their headphones around their necks or in their hands. Some students still do not have a lock on their locker. To prevent items from becoming lost please advise your student to use a lock during the school day.

Global Scholars is a 3-year program for students interested in global cultures, global careers & global issues. Students participate in field trips, online assignments & then in Year 3 an individual Take Action Project to have an impact on a global issue of meaning to them. Students earn 0.50 elective credits, a Global Scholars Diploma, an honor cord for graduation, and a large scholarship to Otterbein University (our partner).
