February's Academic Focus - STAR Assessments and Literacy
One of our district's goals is focused on student literacy. Corinth Middle School utilizes the STAR reading and math program for our benchmark testing throughout the year. STAR allows teachers to measure student literacy and math skills to monitor student progress. The STAR program creates a detailed report for each student, outlining specific strengths and areas of growth. Teachers meet with students to review their progress and set learning goals. It also allows teachers to target instruction to improve skills which may include AIS reading and math placements.
STAR is a valuable tool in helping us work towards our district goals of improving learning and striving to have students reading on grade level to be successful in all of their courses. For more information, check out the video below!
If you have any questions, please reach out to our CMS AIS Coordinators, Ms. McKenzie Regan or Mrs. Darcy Dunbar.

Half Day Schedule - January 26th and 27th
End of the Second Marking Period
Student Arrival and Recess During the Winter Season
- Students should be dropped off at school as close to 7:55am as possible. Generally, students will remain outside until they are allowed to enter the building, which is usually around 8:00am. In rare situations, the students may be allowed to stay in the cafeteria if weather conditions are extreme and unsafe.
- Students should dress accordingly for recess and be prepared for all weather conditions. Jackets, mittens, hats should all be worn during outside recess. Boots are highly recommended when snow is present. Students should expect to go outside everyday unless the weather is severe.
Amazing Opportunity for Students!!! - Student Health Services Initiative
We are excited to introduce a new program available to all Corinth students! Our district has partnered with Saratoga Hospital to offer a Student Health Services initiative.
An advanced practice provider will be available in our district to offer FREE medical care for all students. Some of their services will include: care for minor injuries and illnesses; mental health consultation; acute care prescription medication; and sports physicals. These professionals will share their time between the Elementary School and the Oak Street campus.
In order for students to take advantage of this great opportunity, parents/guardians must sign and return the Consent Form to the middle school or nurse's office. If you have questions regarding this service, please call 518-654-9005 or 518-654-2960 Extension, 3445.

The Albany Firewolves are Coming to Corinth Middle School!!!
8th Grade Parent Night
Our Annual 8th Grade Parents’ Night is scheduled for February 9th at 6:00pm. We will be meeting in the Library on our Oak St. Campus. The purpose of Parents’ Night is to inform you of the high school programs available to your student during grades 9-12, including the Career and Technical Education programs(BOCES), College in the High School programs, the Queensbury HS IB program, as well as, the Clean Tech ECHS program at HVCC and the PTECH program through SUNY Adirondack available as early as 9th grade for interested students .
Also, course requirements and Regents requirements will be discussed, as will the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations. We are asking that all parents/guardians attend this important meeting. It is not necessary for your child to attend this meeting, as we shared this same information with the students when we visited them in class this month.
PBIS Refresher
As the new semester begins, we will be providing all students with a school-wide PBIS refresher! Topics will include cafeteria protocols, recess, hallways and other important school and classroom expectations to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment for our students. We will also announce our February PBIS event. Stay tuned for more information!
School Volunteer Form
If you are approved to be a school volunteer, you will be contacted and provided additional information.
Transportation Update
During the winter months, children should avoid slippery snowbanks and wait for their bus in a safe location, approximately 20 feet or more off the edge of the roadway. As the bus pulls up to your bus stop, please wait for the door to open before approaching the bus. Think safety first!
Corinth CSD Transportation Department is looking for bus drivers and substitute bus drivers. Great opportunity for anyone entered in a part time job. If you're looking for the same school schedule as your children or want a job with weekends and holidays off, this is the place for you!
We handle all the training right here at the transportation facility. Applications can be found on the district's website or contact the transportation office at 518-654-2231.
Intramurals
Healthy Corinth Coalition - Transit Survey
Healthy Corinth is working to bring flexible, on-demand bus service to Corinth and its surrounding areas. This is a new type of transit program designed specifically for rural areas. It is currently in use in Mechanicvllle and we are hoping to get it in Corinth, too. With this new approach, there is no need to wait at a bus stop or plan your day around set bus routes. Instead, you use your phone to ask the bus to come to you, and it will take you where you want to go. It works similarly to an Uber but at a cost like riding the bus. The first step is this survey, which will help us show the CDTA (Capital District Transit Authority) that there is a demand for this service in and around our town. Please consider filling out this survey by January 31st so we know what would be most beneficial to you and your household.
