Summer Reading Opportunities
Hello NRE Families!
It is so important to keep your kids reading over the summer! We want to prevent the "summer slide" as they call it. Just reading a few minutes each night keeps your kids on track for the next school year
as well as help them wind down at night and learn a lifelong love of reading.
Summer Reading Imperative article
Please join us in one of the many options for one of the many Summer Reading Programs we have available.

Northridge Elementary PTO fundraiser: EPI School Supplies
Although we are busy thinking about the end of this school year, it's not too soon to start planning for the start of the school year this fall. NRE PTO has partnered with Educational Products, Inc. (EPI) to provide the option for you to purchase school supplies for the 24/25 school year. We are finalizing the details for these supply packs and will announce how you can buy your pack soon. EPI packs are built from the school supply list provided by NRE and contain teacher-approved items. They are delivered before school starts. When you buy from EPI you lock in pricing and avoid not being able to find everything on your list later this summer. A sample supply pack is available to view in the office. Stay tuned for information about how to purchase your pack!

Principal Letter
Dear NRE Community,
This is a very busy Weekly Blast as we have a lot of things happening for the end of year celebrations as well as during the summer. Please check out the flyer in the DCSD News and Other Information section for details on the Backpack Society's food program for the summer; no one should have food insecurity and there are resources right here in Douglas County.
A huge thank you to everyone who made Staff Appreciation Week so special! From heartfelt letters to staff, to wearing matching clothing, and sharing kind words, your efforts truly made a difference. We also enjoyed delicious treats like cookies, donuts, and a delightful breakfast from Snooze. Leadership walked around with a goodies cart for staff that helped make these last days not so long with extra caffeine and fun classroom supplies. A special shout out to the parent who gifted my first-ever Stanley to me and many staff members - your generosity means a lot!
Working alongside such talented staff is an honor. They go above and beyond every day, pouring their hearts into their work. Teaching isn't just a job; it's a passion. We lose sleep worrying about our students, thinking about how to best support them, and striving to help them succeed. Your children are our top priority, and we're dedicated to their growth and development. Thank you for entrusting us with their education.
On Thursday, our 4th-grade students wowed us with their Colorado play. From stellar performances to an amazing set and impressive singing and moves, it was a showcase of our students' talent and hard work. Thank you to everyone who came out to support them!
We're down to single digits - just 9 days left until the end of the school year. It's unusual for me to count down the days; however, this year feels different. The aftermath of the tornado took its toll on our staff. Some teachers had to relocate their classrooms three times! Reflecting on everything we've achieved since then - rebuilding the school, refreshing our surroundings, organizing supplies, teaching our students, and striving to do what's best for them each day - it's been a long journey. Here's to the final stretch of the school year, and to a summer ahead without the threat of tornadoes impacting our community.

Be SMART - Program about Gun Safety
In partnership with law enforcement, we are sharing the following information:
Be SMART is a program developed by Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund to bring together parents and all adults concerned about kids, guns and safety. Safe firearm storage is one of many preventative actions that you can take in keeping our community safe. When firearms are stored safely, it can help prevent them from getting into the hands of children and teens, who may use them to, intentionally or unintentionally, harm themselves or others.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The world is constantly changing and it can be overwhelming to deal with everything going on around you. While society is getting more comfortable discussing mental health, it can still be hard to know “Where to Start” when it comes to taking care of your own well-being. For anyone struggling with the pressure of today's world, feeling alone, or wondering if they can feel better, Mental Health America will provide support. In a Crisis? Call or Text 988.
