Toward the end of August, counselors visited Senior English classes to review basic tasks to make their quest for postsecondary education as fruitful as possible. Parents are invited to attend a similar presentation. Senior Parent Postsecondary Planning Night will be on September 30th at 6:30pm. Counselors will go over: communication, testing, résumés, letters of recommendation, college applications, transcripts, and financial aid. This event will be in the Excellence Center and will last about an hour.

The Sueños Summit will be a dynamic gathering where students will have the chance to interact with influential figures from various fields, including business, education, arts, and activism. Through engaging panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions, students will gain firsthand knowledge about career paths, cultural heritage, and the power of community engagement.

This unique summit aims to connect students with inspiring Latino community leaders and professionals, providing students with invaluable insights, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Does your family of four make under $100,000 a year? You may qualify for the Buffett & Goodrich Scholarships! These scholarships pay tuition, books, and fees to Nebraska State Colleges. UNO pays tuition, books, and fees.

Mrs. Bradley is putting together a scholarship team to work on one or both of these scholarships. She will help you from start to finish. If you would like more information or would like to be part of this team, contact Mrs. Bradley.

PLHS loves to celebrate our Seniors' achievements! If you are awarded a scholarship, please share your good news with Mrs. Bradley in the scholarship office.

You can sign up on MaiaLearning and visit with the college(s) in the Counseling Center. In MaiaLearning, click the "Events" tab on the left. Click the "Actions" on the right of the visit you would like to attend. Click "Attend". You will be signed up to attend! Just show up in the Counseling Office on the date and time of the visit you signed up for. It is the student responsibility to attend this visit. No passes will be sent. (These are STUDENT ONLY visits)

September and October are great months to get on campus if you haven’t already. Most colleges will have special visit day events for Seniors. They may even have special visit days for programs you are considering or with Spanish speaking tour guides. You can often schedule an individual or small group tour on a day that works for you and your family.

Join us for a National Portfolio Day event hosted by the Sam Fox School at Washington University in St. Louis! At National Portfolio Days, you’ll meet with representatives from institutions offering professional programs accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Representatives will be available to review your artwork, discuss their programs, and answer questions about professional careers in art and design. We will also review work for students interested in architecture, as we often have architecture faculty in attendance at these events. Papillion La Vista Community Schools is offering an ACT Prep Course! Tailored to meet the individual needs of each student, students can choose to attend a session every week or just a few. Research shows that preparation is a key to test taking. Students taking a test preparation course are better prepared for the ACT than those who have done no preparation. This new PLCS ACT Prep Course is taught by PLCS teachers with expertise in each of the subject areas. CLICK HERE to register and for more information.
