News From Crown Point Community School Corporation
August 2023
WELCOME BACK!
We are so excited to see our students on the first day of school - August 16th.
Another BIG thank you to our front office staff who have been working hard to finalize registrations and problem-solve as everyone becomes familiar with PowerSchool.
Is your ParentSquare information correct?
Parents who have not yet registered their account will receive an email invitation before school begins.
We encourage families to download the ParentSquare app. It allows you to set communication preferences and stay up-to-date on information from your child's school and teachers. Simply log in using the email or phone number you provided at registration.
For more information about our communications platforms, check out our Family Communications Guide.
- As a reminder, transportation information will be available in Bus Planner the afternoon of August 14th.
- All students who live outside their school's walk zone and qualify for transportation will be assigned a bus route/time. Unless you need to request transportation to a location other than your home, you do not need to fill out any additional forms.
- If you have any questions, please call the Transportation Department at 219-663-1465.
- As part of the transition to PowerSchool, students' Google passwords have been changed for the start of the school year. If you did not receive your student's password on August 9th in an email, you can call your child's school. In most cases, students can also wait to get their password on the first day.
- You can learn more about technology in our classrooms by reviewing our information about GoGuardian and Blended/Personalized Learning.
Eating breakfast as a child helps establish healthy habits for later in life. If your child does not have time to eat breakfast at home, we would like to invite them to eat at school. We have several options to choose from.
Deez Eatz Concessions, the CPHS concessions management company, is hiring students to work in the concession stands this school year. They will be taking applications this Saturday, August, 12, from 10 AM to 1 PM at the basketball concession stand.
- Registration is available for the Fall Sports Leagues Dean & Barbara White Southlake YMCA. Progams span PreK - 8th grade.
- Join the First Presbyterian Church on August 20th for a Fun Fair. Event takes place between 11:30 and 1.
- Join a golf outing on August 26 to raise money for the Robert D. Brown Scholarship. Bob Brown was a science teacher for 39 years at Taft. The scholarship is held through the Crown Point Community Foundation.
- Cub Scouts Pack 48 is one of NW Indiana’s most active packs! We welcome both boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade. An information meeting will be held Thursday, August 24.
Taft teacher Devin Lewis spoke at the event and recognized that in the coming weeks, students will make the building truly complete. “This space is begging to be filled with wonder, exploration and discovery,” she said. “The magic of Taft really begins on August 16th when our students join us with their unique interests, perspectives, and personalities. We cannot wait to enjoy their spirit and energy, and to allow it to fill the halls.”
